as alluded to before, I'm not hung-up on the tangible type. Other than the effects of loving my neighbor as myself, that is.

    My $.25 worth:

This whole thing is out of control!

Lib, you and Campbell need to immediately go back to square one and agree to debate per the rules posted in the sticky regarding debates, and let an independent moderator oversee it. Completely new thread, no one but you and Campbell.

Observations regarding both of you...Lib, you asked for honest opinions:

Campbell--You should agree to the accepted rules of debate, no matter how absolute you consider your position. You're much more likely to influence people here positively if you do. All you are doing with your present approach is making yourself look like a fanatic.

Lib--You have stuck more to debate rules and sound more reasoned but you should tone down your style...cut out the profanity and sarcasm...it diminshes you. Campbell definitely has one up on you in this area...he's been a gent throughout.

    Really libertine.

You asked him the question "Does God Exist?" and he answered "yes".

Campbell can answer your question. He did.

That's an opinion, not an answer.

    Erise, according to your "answer".

    The debate is over.

But, I think you know well what the question entails.

If you don't, I feel sorry for you.

That's what "There is a place called Palestine therefore Jesus is Lord" and "there were bodies found where the Bible said they'd be therefore Jesus is Lord" amounts to...

    Campbell: Yes
    Libertine: How do you know

    RE: Libertine: Does God exist?
    Campbell: Yes

Are you that warped that you don't recognise that "yes" doesn't cut it in the confines of a debate?

    and STILL no answer...

The "Does God Exist?" is a LEADING QUESTION to begin the debate, Erise. Don't be silly. Surely, you know that. That's why it is called a "debate" and not a "Let me ask your personal opinion."

Libertine you asked "Prove that God exists?" Well as Christians we believe God exists primarily because of what the Bible says.

We also believe that their is a God because of what He as done in our lives which in other words is personal testimony. Billy Graham once said "Can you see God, have you ever seen Him? I've never seen the wind... I seen the effects of the wind, but I've never seen the wind." Likewise, through our lives we have seen the effects of God, which gives us evidence that there is a God.

But back to the main source of proof of why we believe that there is a God--the Bible. If you dismantle the Bible, you dismantle the Christian faith. For the Bible is the foundation of Christianity. So perhaps you should ask the question: How do you know the Bible is true? (which was basically the original question)

Even if you don't accept the Bible as evidence at least debate it for all the atheists rallying behind you... Prove the Bible wrong once and for all. That is all we are asking.

Well, really, that's exactly what happened.

the other 49 pages were Campbell, and occasionally me and the other christians, trying to give every form of evidence possible. Just like Libertine asked for.

RE: Well as Christians we believe God exists primarily because of what the Bible says.

Given that the Bible cannot be true, that implodes the Christian myth right there.

Or as you would say: "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

RE: We also believe that their is a God because of what He as done in our lives which in other words is personal testimony.

This is not a proof. Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

RE: Billy Graham once said "Can you see God, have you ever seen Him? I've never seen the wind... I seen the effects of the wind, but I've never seen the wind." Likewise, through our lives we have seen the effects of God, which gives us evidence that there is a God.

Wind is invisible, but it's a quantifiable thing that can be measured with an anenometer. There is no God-o-meter.

RE: But back to the main source of proof of why we believe that there is a God--the Bible. If you dismantle the Bible, you dismantle the Christian faith.

Libertine, this can be done in two moves. I leave the coup de grace to you.

Cannot be true? Where in the world did you get this?

    Lingua brittaniae?
    english language?

So because God doesn't fall within scientific measurement, He must be a fairytale.

There is more to human senses than science. There is faith.

They don't understand that God is above science, because He created it. He is like a webmaster of a website except the website is the world.

Let us keep in mind the time when Jesus calmed the storm...

"The men were amazed and asked? 'What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!'"

Well of course He can calm a storm, He was the one that created such a thing.

    Let's get Campbell34 in a formal debate.

Then we'll see how he holds up.
