    Pure and unadulterated.

    A great point, Libertine.

It does not matter whether you add some dimension of "soul" or simply attribute the feeling to a chemical present in your blood stream. The feeling itself is still just as strong, just as meaningful, and just as present.

If you injected pure seratonin into your bloodstream, you'd feel extremely happy. That doesn't mean your happiness is fake. Your happiness is QUITE real. It's just artificially provoked.

Love is, however, not something that is easily artificially instated. Love is something much deeper, which requires more than simple feeling, but pride, desire, concern, and a variety of other feelings. Love itself is not simply a single feeling. It's a whole orchestra of them.

It means the whole orchestra is playing, just for them.

Yes we do. It's proven. And if you don't believe me, take some MDMA; it causes your body to release all of the seratonin (happy chemical) into your bloodstream at one time, causing you extreme bliss.

    Nonsense alert.

Edit: Better yet, let me say this:

Evil is the proof of God inability to be completely loving. God's jealousy (read the Ten Commandments) is proof of God's imperfection.

That's just plain wrong. Hinduism does have prophecies. Islam does have prophecies. And there are a variety of lesser-known religions that also have prophecies.

Do a simple google search for "Hindu prophecies" or "Islamic prophecies" and you'll get MANY results.

And Taoism and Buddhism are not religions. They are philosophies.

It in no way proves anything.

It may SUGGEST. To you, it may even be VERY PROBABLE.

    But it proves *absolutely nothing.*

And to say that it does, is absurd.

But what you both mean by "chemical reaction," or imagine before and as you both write "chemical reaction," is most certainly incomplete in that significant physical activity and conditions at the mechanical, chemical and subatomic levels, 'driving,' and providing a required environment for, the "chemical reactions" and the related manifestations that you refer to, are not taken into account.

It can matter, this is to say "it can be very significant," depending on the specific question being considered; "sometimes the music reflects that instruments are missing."

What you state appears to be incorrect because, again, whether this is significant or not depends on the specific question being considered.

Well mate, your opening 5 words The truth of the matter say it all, don't they now? Pity that christian apologists refute the very truth the Krst essence taught.
Know the truth and the truth will set you free.
Truth be known, I think campbell34 & Erise are one and the same.

    Thanks NMHG
It's sort of OK, but IMHO......
The 24hr response condition only allows those without a life outside of the Hipforum to participate. Neither is there provision for elimination of posts which are deceiptful or misleading ~ presumptions unsupported by facts and the like, which is the bent of the most ardent apologists hereabouts. I'm certain that apologists will only vote for the apologists also, so it's doubtful that voting will be anywhere near fair or honest.
For me, debating isn't the issue, but clarifying the truth when false and deceiptful statements are made that misinform and lead astray trusting individuals. That really puts the "F" into my ire.

Yeah, if these rules were in place to begin with this wouldn't have turned out to be a complete mess with the original intent lost...I'm as much to blame as anyone, stuck my two bits worth in a few times.

Maybe Campbell and Libertine should start all over with the new rules?

You are wrong, natural23. Those chemical reactions are a direct result OF those significant activities that one would do with his kids. As I said in my last post, love is an ORCHESTRA of chemical reactions, each one put into perfect place and quantity by your body, *because* of your experiences with the person you love.

If instruments are missing, then it is not true love, is it? We're not talking about incomplete love.

Even so ... part of love is having feelings of jealousy. But certainly you are not jealous all the time. Maybe the violin isn't *supposed* to play during the flute solo ... did you ever consider that? That doesn't mean that the violin isn't present.

What I said was not incorrect, though it may not directly be related to the question being considered, which is: "so all you feel for ____ is a chemical reaction?"

I think it IS quite related, because the asker of the question used "all you feel" in his question, which suggests that he believes those chemical reactions to be of some kind of lesser value (for whatever misguided reason).

The truth is ... love for any person is not something that can be synthesized. If it COULD be synthesized, we'd have giant tanks where we could lock ourselves away forever, ruled by huge corporations. This is far from the case.

So when you feel love, *EVEN THOUGH* chemical reactions are what cause you to feel the way you do, those chemical reactions are a result of what has happened between you and the person you love, and circumstances have caused you to feel this way about that person. Just because there is no "4th dimension" aspect to it doesn't mean that the feeling of love is devalued by any means whatsoever.

That is one of the most profound and beautifully poetic statements regarding love that I have ever heard in my life.

The Book is not myth, it is the absolute truth, which your humanistic eyes can not preceive. What does facts about the cival war have to to with factual prophecies of the Bible? It is obvious to me that you cannot debate the accuracy of the Bible, AND THAT IS WHY YOU REFUSE TO DO SO. Yea, you say show me the evidence of my Sky Daddy, then refuse to hear it. Your words, I AM NOT GOING TO ALLOW YOU TO GET AWAY USING THE BIBLE AND BIBLE PROPHECY AS OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE OF OMNI-DADDY. If the Bible can speak of the future with 100% accuracy, then the author is the only one on earth who knows the future. And from where I'm standing, only God knows the future. The Bible can PROVE itself. You are the one blocking that PROOF. From the start you have thrown up road blocks all along the way. It is you who must push censorship in order to win your arguements. I have not tried to bar any information, only you have. You are the one playing Cat & Mouse, hide and seek games and peek-a-boo. I can say this, but I can't say that. I can't bring in that information, but I might be able to say this, if you allow it.
The fact is, you cannot hold your ground against the Word of God. AND THAT IS WHY YOU REFUSE TO HEAR IT.

Ok, Campbell. Let's make a deal, here.

You give me ONE PIECE OF legitimate evidence of Omni-Max Sky Man and I'll listen to your speeches about "his Word".

The Bible cannot prove "God exists" no more than the novel "Gone With The Wind" proves the existence of Rhett Butler. Both are only real in the books until given evidence otherwise.

You really need to understand that the Orginal East Gate is still there, you just don't see it. Because after the destruction of Jerusalem it was buried. The Old Testament stated that when the Prince to come would arrive, He would enter the porch of the East Gate. Another words, He would enter the addition of the Old Gate. Not many years ago they discovered that the Old gate was intact, and has now become the foundation for the Gate that is there today. The Moslems thought that when the Prince to come would arrive He would enter the Old Gate so they filled the entrance of the Old Gate with dead mens bones, thinking that would stop the Prince from walking throught it. They did not understand, that the Prince to come will walk throught the the addition of the orginal Gate. Another Words, the Gate that is visible today that is sealed.

Hey there, girl. What's happening? ;)

This thread wasn't really about considering the things that Mr. Campbell presented to us. See, there *is* fact incorporated into his argument, i.e. the old East Gate being underground (so are the walls of Jericho) and the altars at the places the Bible records the Jewish people building them.

But Mr. Campbell says that this is undeniable proof of G-d's existance. I also agree that these factual findings give evidence for faith-building, but just like other cultures have left behind artifacts regarding their history and religious practices, it doesn't "prove" their gods.

Let's put it like this... You and I believe in G-d, because He's done great things in our lives, and we've felt His Holy Spirit move on us. But we can't expect others to understand this if they've not experienced it. That's blind faith. It can't be proven to others beyond a shadow of a doubt. Mr. Campbell doesn't like blind faith, and believes that he can prove G-d's existance as if it were a tangible thing to prove.

I just don't think it is, that's all. I don't think He intended it to be that way... G-d wants us to "believe without seeing." If His existance were an absolute we could prove, we wouldn't necessarily serve because we *want* to... We would feel that we have no choice in the matter. The whole principle of "love" is lost, and it's replaced with "duty." Which sucks, IMO. :(

O well, GEE. I can hardly wait... :D

Cleaning the toilet will no longer be a drugdery, but an exhilerating experience in aromatherapy. It'll be like, "O boy!!! Somebody forgot to flush...! YAY!!" <<insert the sounds of excited squealing>>

And suddenly, everybody at the party will be fighting to have the opportunity to hold your hair while your fool-drunk self wretches itself into oblivion.

*shakes her head, trying to hide the fact that she's having a fit of giggles*

    hey there hippy.

i was just wondering why these findings seem to be automatically discredited before any research is done to see if perhaps they might be real.

I dont think any of these things can make anyone believe in God's existence either...but people can at least have the decency to consider the possibilities instead of putting thier fingers in thier ears and going I CAAAANT HEEEARR YOUU...

it's like people prepare themselves to deliberately ignore anything a Christian is tries to explain.
