This statement is not provable. You do know it is not provable, don't you?

In the statement that you quote I am saying that if something requires a particular 'willful' thought, initially, in order occur and that thought is stopped from occurring according to a belief, for example, then that something will not occur.

I fail to see that I made a statement, Kharakov. What I see is a question.

    Lemme rephrase that.

"This statement is not provable" <-- that statement is self referential.

just showing you a true statement that cannot be proven. Check out the Godel's theorum part of the liar's paradox page at wikipedia:

    Not really.

Just saying that I have asked ONE question and have been given NO legitimate answers, only hundreds of petty failures built on anecdotal evidence, testimony and crying.

It doesn't mean shit to me when trying to answer the question that was asked at the beginning of the thread, thus I exposed it as "anecdotal" (which it is).

    Libertine,

How are you ? Questions: What qualities in matter would you speculate are responsible for consciousness and at what point of "reduction," if any, do these qualities become nonsignificant ? Note: I am aware that initially and 'down the road' in considering these questions there are important "definition of terms" issues that must be considered, so we could start with the question, "what is consciousness ?" Mind you, I am a 'slowpoke' but constantly moving (like a snail).

    :)

I only have "theories" because I do not "know" the answers to such questions.

My theories are only worth as much as anyone else's theories, thus they are either worth a lot or nothing--it's all relative, really.

So, "What Is Consciousness?" Self Awareness the definition you are looking for? There are many definitions of consciousness. Which one do you consider to be the true definition as used in your question?

Suppose we skip the formalities and go straight for the gut. What do you insinuate was the "origin" of consciousness? I am the skeptic here. I'll plead ignorance. You tell me.

I believe that, in reality, awareness implies some level of self-awareness and that present definitions of self-awareness will soon undergo significant modification. This is (obviously) not to say that there are not distinct "modes" of self-awareness. Consciousness = Awareness.
