I want to get to Waikiki someday. Supposed to be some good longboard waves out there. But probably too remote for my tastes to live out there.
I've been there! It's on Oahu, and the waves were not breaking at all. They were swells and had the potential to be 3 footers, but they wouldn't break. They have shark nets for swimmers but not farther out. It kind of makes you think. Anyway, that's Waikiki. Of course there are waves on the North Shore. Honolulu (where Waikiki is) is really well connected. It's not remote at all, but other parts of Hawaii are I'm sure.
When the tsunami hit Japan a few years ago I woke up at like 3 am and turned on the tv and they were showing a live cam of Hawaii because they were expecting a tsunami there too And that is when I decided I would never want to live in Hawaii and I'm not sure if I would even visit. Something about being on an island in the middle of a vast ocean freaks me the fuck out I prob would visit Easter Island if I had a chance though Anyways stay safe California peeps! (Do people still say peeps?)
It seems like the wind is dying down, though I've heard reports that they expect it to continue through Saturday. Fire is reportedly contained up to 10%, which is better than the 0% we had for the first few days. The downside of the wind dying down is that there is plenty of unhealthy smoke in the air to breathe. The animals seem to know something is going on too. I've seen flocks of crows grounded and so forth. Anyway, for the wind dying down, the good outweighs the bad. At least the can get a better handle on the fires with less wind. We'll see.
