California cop shoots unarmed man eleven times

Did the cop ever explain the 11 shots? I'm thinking protocol (which I wonder how he interpreted it), because if it's anything else, surely he was a victim of his own personal vendetta, or threat, or temporary insanity.

Maybe part of your not understanding my or rolling's viewpoints is because you are making the assumption that as members of Hip Forums we should of course ascribe to a certain mind set, one which you feel does not condone the type of action this police officer undertook.

So is it really a valid assessment of the situation or rolling's and I's opinions when you are filtering them through what YOU believe should be our attitude concerning such matters?

On the one hand it is a tragic incident and the cop did over-react a bit IMO, BUT until I'm put into a situation like that myself, I am NOT going to condemn the man. Who knows, I might have shot him 14 times and then walked up and put my last round into his face, I just don't really know. and I doubt any one else in this thread does either.

I see shit like this happen and I am remorseful for all involved, but I'm intelligent enough to not just hop on the "cops are all evil" knee-jerk reaction bandwagon.

remember, that cop took another persons life, and regardless of what anyone says or any type of bravado exhibited, I'll bet it keeps him awake at night.

I believe what I saw, and the points made in the articles, (not opinions but points such as the cops story differed from the vid for instance) indicate it was a fucked up thing to do to kill a dude like that.

Ya, I been around the block once.
I kissed the hood of a cop car pretty forcefully once. Deserved it too. Learned a valuable lesson. I'll own up to anything I say, and listen to why someone thinks I'm wrong. I've had my perspective changed a few times as a result.

So I gotta question for you rOll... you think maybe you might have diminished and de-humanized that dude a little cause he was convicted of crimes and didn't do exactly what you and I would have?
