respectfully, no. What if the guy's wearing a vest? The cop won't know that his one shot even hit the guy, let alone its effectiveness.
1) aim better. hit your target when you're firing off a deadly weapon in a residential area. every shot you fire, you should be SURE that you hit the target. 2) "what if he's wearing a vest?" "what if he's on PCP?" what if he's UNARMED??
If you knew anything about stress situations, fine motor skill loss, firearms deployment and self defense generally, you'd already know the answer to #1. As for #2, I share your frustration, but the world isn't perfect. Cops aren't always the bad guys.
They knew who he was (the officer calls out his name 'Ernie'), and I would imagine know he wasn't on PCP.
They are trained to do exactly what that cop did, shoot centre of mass until there is no movement. I don't think I'd have done it. I don't necessarily approve of it. But from a perspective of knowledge and training, I can understand it. For what it is worth, the whole problem stems from cops being taught to use weapons at every opportunity, be they tasers or guns. No-one these days teaches cops how to fight properly. If there is a problem-and I strongly agree that there is a systemic problem with the use of police weapons-it is a problem that needs a systemic solution. peace.
You guys aren't getting it. Police AND civilians if you take a gun safety/self-defense course, are taught to shoot until the target is dead. Shoot to wound is a joke and a fallacy. In the video when he gets out and places his right hand on the roof of the car you can clearly see a knife, then he shifts his body in what looks to me as maybe an attempt prepare to lunge, then he looks at his foot and reaches down. In self defense/police training the lethal range of a knife is about ten feet, the cop was much closer than that and acted appropriately in my opinion. Yes, Ivory, good call on Massad Ayoob.:2thumbsup: I've mentioned him a time or two here before.
Since it seems like many of you didn't read the article Ill help you\ "Moody claims he shot the victim because he saw Duenez holding a knife. An 8-inch knife with a 4-inch blade was later found in the bed of the truck, but Duenez was not carrying it at the time of the shooting." It looked like he was getting ready to run but running from cops on foot unarmed is no reason to get shot 11 times
Despite the fact that he didnt have a weapon I have to point out that he got shot next to the car door not coming towards the cop at all. and 'someoen' with a name like rollinstoned, as stupid as it is, implies you drive while under the influence. So I guess you would understand if a cop shot you to death as well
how does it imply that I drive under the influence  if you are stupid enough to say something like that, your post cannot be taken seriously.
heres an interesting one Maybe cops shouldn't be trained to shoot someone until they can't move just because he might have had a weapon. Just like your not supposed to kick people when they are down maybe there should be a rule like if the unarmed suspect is wounded on the ground, stop shooting him in the head edit so what does your name mean rollinstoned is it a dedication to being high on mdma and pot? either way its pretty lame
awwwww poor baby is mad that a criminal got killed when he didnt comply. go sulk in the corner pouty patricia :bigcry:
LOL @ Rollin. I feel for both sides in this situation. It does seem excessive, but as it has been pointed out, there have been NUMBERS of cops shot/killed when it was not expected. With all the "brushes with the law" the dude had, it seems he should have known what he was doing was exactly what not to do. I wonder about tazing. Like why it isn't used more.
