I've started drawing on my own shirts with bleach.... I do Steal Your Face skulls, moons, dreamcatchers, etc. all because I am apalled by prices of clothes these days.... Grateful Dead shirts, etc. and so i decided to simply make my own Grateful Dead shirts, shirts with moons, etc. A few nights ago I was hanging outside of a Bob Weir show and someone was selling the most gorgeous tyedye and I thought, I could do those same designs with bleach instead colors.... it would be bi colored, as in, variations of 2 colors (bleached and unbleached) but in tyedye style. thus the name bi.... so i knotted up a long skirt and tanktop the tyedye way, sprayed them with bathroom bleach.... and it looks freakin awesome! I've made Grateful Dead shirts, bidye clothing, love it!
That's awesome, man. I'm not too into band shirts because I don't listen to music. But, I enjoy shirts that have words on them with some sort of relatable image. The ones that are comical and lighthearted. Not the offensive, vulgar ones. Though, I do admit some do make me chuckle. I know, it's wrong. Good luck on your journey to making your own shirts. Sounds like a great pastime, maybe you can make some to sell someday.
a lot of my clothes had bleach stains to begin with from my job, then i realized i could use the same twist and tie technique and get the same cool psychedelic patterns! bleach leaves some great gradients and colors.
It's called discharge dyeing, and it's been around a while. See this thread http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=193346&highlight=Discharge&f=397
