I've owned it for 20 years. Kinda sad to see it go, but the buyer is a master mechanic and car restorer, so she's getting a good home. I bought it for 500 hundred bucks in '95 and put several thousand into it and he paid me 3ooo for it, so maybe I'm just getting part of my $$ back. It always got much attention, horn honking and thumbs up when I was driving it. I'll always have a picture of it in my gallery---soooo---that's something. He's coming Sunday to get 'er-----Bye-bye baby-------------------Joel
Going today mate !! I feel sad for you ! I have never had anything that long, Except my kids and I would probably miss them come to think of it I have probably had my Strat nearly 20 years ( I will have to check ) Still as you say the guy will take care of your baby :daisy:
My upholstery is the same as the blue shown except it's gold in color. Got mine in Portland also and it came in bolts--the cloth and the vinyl. A guy in Hanford Cal, put it together. It had a 304 when I got it--wouldn't pull your hat off! Replaced it with a 343, which I had overhauled. Domed pistons, 3/4 cam, etc. It is very swift! Anyway--I had my time with it.
American Motors was always an underdog. I had a 71, I believe, Gremlin X; green with the strip up the sides. It only had a 258 (4.5L) straight six. But it did have a competition clutch and a 3 on the floor. It was pretty fast for a six, previous owner would drag race it and I held my own against a V6 Capri till he hit 5th gear then he pulled ahead. My wife wouldn't drive it cause the back tires would break loose when she'd try to pull out of somewhere. Lots of fun. Rusted away.
Kind of like the end of an era as you have had it so long. Great the someone will restore it and all but it is sad that it will no longer by yours.
