Thats an opinion. The dictionary can be your friend if you find yourself confusing the definition of two different words. Opinion noun: A personal view, attitude, or appraisal I would never post a poem on here without expecting people to critique it. That does not neccessarily make the critic correct. Some of the best poets of all time were still subject to criticism. The job of the artist, writer, poet is to determine which criticisms are useful and which will only make their work weaker.
I don't get why me doing anything but bubbling with praise (which i did, as well.... I think I called it brilliant, which is high praise) got so many people so mad. I think I could have said the same in many poetry threads, and nobody would have noticed, I might have even been thanked for dropping in. But in a thread that deals with race, I don't even need to be a dissenter to have my head stomped on, I just have to say it could be even better. Roamy: You are wrong, to retard is to slow, and it is a legitimate word. Stop being a PC nazi, I don't care if it's PC to pretend that there are no differences between people. There are. Keep in mind I didn't call OP retarded, I said that if that was a finished, publishing house ready poem, he might look that way. If you think that's ready to publish, well fuck.... dunno what to say. Am I the only one who thinks it's very racist to shield the discussion of racism from legitimate cricique? Just because you write ****** is a sarcastic way doesn't make something high art and immune to criticism, and I was rather gentle with it, at that. It's good, but it still needs work, and anyone who takes the "you're just perfect how you are, don't bother being better" attitude should read, and not post, because there's nothing that could be better and thus they clearly have nothing to say.
Awesome poem dude, but as some have said it could be better, it jitters in some places. But now I wanna join this light-hearted debate Even though I don't write, I got told that for an artist there's always room for improvement and if you ever consider one of your works as a masterpiece - you're missing the point. I mean if you're happy with what you're doing that's fine, but if you went a bit further you'd be that much happier because you'll have progressed - and from there you can progress further and further and it opens up so many new doors and ways of doing things. The beautiful thing about crit is that you don't have to listen to it, but it's a very handy if you do.
.....See, if you understood this whole critiquing thing, you would have mentioned that I wrote "is" where I meant "in".
