the movie was okay, i didnt think it was anything special. and yes, i understood the point. ashton kootchface was pretty good in that movie, it was interesting to see him play someone smart enough to go to college. the person who played his mom was a terrible actress, though. that was annoying.

That movie was about everything that is wrong with human behavior today. Everyone wants to change the past but you can't. So fcking get over it :)

i loved that movie. the theory is so true. but i really think if he had just gone back to the porno time and told the motherfucker (or kidfucker, in this case) the crap he did and didn't say the boy was screwed in the head, evrything would have been okay.

i only saw the alternate ending... can someone pm me the real one. i didn't have time to watch it, unless i wanted to pay late fees.

I thought it was an ok movie. Nothing I'd see again, that's for sure.
    I didn't like it much.

Dragging back this from I don't know where as I just saw 'The Butterfly Effect' last night. And christ, it is pretty fucked up like, isn't it?!

The directors cut is most definitely the version to go for. I checked two alternative endings on the DVD and they're awful! With directors commentary they're sitting there slating it themselves, "Yeah this ending just didn't fit with the rest of the movie" and "Ah they were just improving and it wasn't very good"!

The film as whole I didn't think was disturbing, for me it was more of a 'loser becomes winner' type of film where I was mainly hooked wanting Evan to pull it off and fix everything. But not even to the extent of him getting the girl or anything, just erasing their childhood horrors.

And it's those bloody things which were disturbing! Ah man, some really awful stuff like! Also I think in a VERY bizarre way 'the director cut' ending was my happy sappy ending as opposed to the one where they're in the crowd.

I really enjoyed this movie. I've seen both versions and I'd have to say that the Directors Cut is so much more meaningful and and memorable. I bawled after seeing the Directors Cut, were as with the Theatrical version I didn't shed a tear at the end. I don't really like the ending of the theatrical version, because it kind of all just ties together in a chance of luck (everything turns out how he wants it too for his last journal thing), but the directors cut really touched me.

The director's cut ending when he kills himself in the womb is amazing. I thought it was a way better ending than the ending shown in theaters.

The movie as a whole was OK and definately worth a rent. Would I buy the DVD, certainly not. For me the real kicker is the fact that not every action or change of past affects the out come of future events. For examble...

When he's in the prison cell and he's telling his new cell mate buddy that Christ sent him there and he goes back to elementary school, spikes his hands on the paper holders, and then returns to the exact reality that he left in his prison cell.

Im sorry, this movie is fundamentally flawed.

Definitely flawed, no doubt about that. There were a couple other points along the way which kept it out of the brilliance leagues really. And when he woke without arms you certainly felt it was time to draw this thing to the end and soon!

I too never would of bought it had it not happen to be choice number five in a five for £30 deal :p - And aye, I wouldn't suggest for anyone to buy it now either.

what happens in the original ending then? because i thought the version where he goes back as a baby made sense.
