    there is a congress

A congress even more obedient than my dog. "Roll over and watch your son die. Now, sit, Ubu, sit. Good dog."

    Congress: "woof."

Yes, Kerry HOPES to gain world support. The chances of him gaining adequate support from foreign troops are sketchy at best.

It depends on how far our government wants to go to win the war.

Till there's "free elections"? We'll get out in time.

Till we prevent civil war? Bank on a draft.

The ONLY reason I think Bush is more likely to pass a draft bill then Kerry is that it will be his final term in office; he doesn't have his second term to consider. On the other hand, Kerry will have his second term to consider, so if he were to pass a draft in his first term, he could kiss any chance of a second good bye.

As for the whole women/college student thing...I doubt it. There will be aprox 20 Million draft age people by then, considering the fact that generation Y is the largest generation since the boomers. Even with women and college students out, the government will have loads of people to draft if they really needed one.

Incidentally...Inagodadavita, your sig rocks my socks.

But it's eventually (and soon) going to come down to a win or lose situation. Regardless if they *want* to draft or not, they will have to.

Again, it's a matter of simple math.

If Kerry is elected, he is going to be faced with the decision of either pulling out of Iraq or drafting -- there is no other choice. It would be a political loss for Kerry or Bush, regardless if they bring back the draft or pull out of Iraq (which is unlikely to happen).

You doubt it? Please, you don't think I am pulling this information out from my ass, do you? THIS IS DOCUMENTED INFORMATION!!

All I said was that Bush was MORE LIKELY to bring back the draft, not that he wouldn't or Kerry wouldn't.
Your first article claims that the SS is thinking about drafting women, not that it will. In my opinion it's a possiblity, but not a likely one. I think that there are enough draftable people as it is, and since I'd be willing to risk getting arrested by either helping objectors dodge the draft, or dodging it myself, I'm not going to flip out over it.

Your second link isn't working, by the way.

The washingtonmonthy link brings up an "under construction" site for me.

This was a comment on porev.com...
This is interesting...I had thought the democrats who started the bills recently discussed have been said to be brought about to scare people away from the war itself. I never knew the bills were set up to keep the republicans from getting their kids out.

Now that I have proven my ignorance, let me check out those other links you've posted. . .

I haven't forgotten, but do you think it matters? Bush wanted war, he got it. All he had to do was ask once. Or maybe Congress is full of morons and they all believed that Iraq was linked to the 9/11 attacks:rolleyes:
