Actually burying our poop, is a good idea, because the Bible says to bury that which come from thee, I recall reading somewhere in it.

But this idea is rather "late" and out-of-date. The human race is rising in human numbers, and populating itself denser and denser, well at least for now. In the big cities, there is often no reasonable place anymore, to just squat in some empty field. People would see. Not enough privacy. Not enough sanitation. Too many flies spreading germs. And just like with all the litterbugs out there, some people wouldn't bother to bring along their shovels, that is, if they can even find some vacant field or yard to squat in?

So what's the modern equivalent, for today's growing cities? The flush toilet. Probably that's why God allowed humans to have toilets within their homes, because God know full well how numerous humans are becoming, and fully approves and wants us to go on multiplying, for the sakes of family, society, our children, the sacredness of each and every human life, etc. I think many such inventions, as the flush toilet, really, when you think about it, came about as huge human population accomodation inventions. Think about it. Where does the sewage sludge from the wastewater treatment plants go? Often it is buried, isn't it?

Actually, flushing untreated human wastes into the oceans, does make sense, within some reasonable bounds. Where do we think that the whales and dolphins and fish defecate? In the water all around them. Nature can handle such well-biodegradable wastes, in low enough concentrations to not make an "unpleasant" problem. So peeing into the ocean, is perfectly acceptable, under the water where nobody can see, because the water is so vast as to make no difference, but not into streams where untold millions may live and add to the filth, downstream. And never into a swimming pool.

Similarly, I see no problem with ships and boats dumping sewage some 3 miles out from shore, just so long as it is of only the "degradable" stuff, and not floating plastic and trash.

So these trendy "environmental" ideas of "composting toilets" and such, seem like such a useless crock.

The flush toilet, septic tanks, and sewage treatment systems, have already been invented, and seem to be working well enough, for today's growing cities. Perhaps spaceships of the future may have even shorter "recycling" loops for wastes, depending more upon machinery, to clean again "used" water from wastes. On Star Trek Enterprise, the question came up, from some teleconference hookup something-or-other with some school-kids, when you flush the toilet (on the spacecraft) where does it go? The answer was to some "biomatter resequencer" from which it goes to make a boot or something.

What developing countries really need, is not more Western "contraceptive imperilism," but to develop workable economies, so that they can afford such basics, as more flushing toilets, as I heard on some PBS educational or environmental or development TV program, that it isn't smart to poop in your drinking water. Well, duh? Especially when there is getting to be so many, many of us, throughout the world. As there gets to be more and more human assholes per square mile throughout the world, what is needed, is not the old, obsolete, running-over outhouses, nor "composting toilets," but merely what most people with any money already have and want, more flushing toilets, as more flushing toilets, isn't going to hurt the planet any.

too many people= problems w control of shit, where to put it?
we need to fup time/money/creativity into solving this problem, the thing is we only to be inovative when it comes to hightech/weapons/space blabla..... there are so many ways to solve this , it's great someone bring this up and spread this issue

Yes, there are many approachs, which can allow the numbers of people to go right on accumulating, for the good of all. It's well and good for people to be conspicuously numerous, especially if they are friendly. More coastal villages could at least pipe their sewage into the ocean, at least where it would be more downstream of everybody. If they can't keep it out of the rivers, then drinking water can be treated, or obtained farther upstream, boiled, or pumped from wells. And here's an interesting approach. Help boost immunity with better vaccines. People already tend to develop immunity, as they say to travelers to some foreign countries, don't drink the water. Why? The natives drink it, but they are used to it, so it probably won't make them sick again, while foreigners have more problem with it. Here's the link about developing a vaccine for Cholera.

Cholera Gives Up Its Secrets In Mice

    http://www.overpopulation.com/discussion/fullthread$msgnum=5193

If people have enough good nutrition and enough to eat, and develop immunity, then the rather natural smell, probably is easy to get used to. At least I recall when I was a child and lived in the countryside, the manure the farmers spread on their fields, did stink, but it's a natural smell to which we soon get rather used to. I don't recally anybody complaining about it. It's just a "country" smell.

Regardless how they ultimately will solve it, or take longer than they should to solve it, I want for the number of assholes per square mile, to go right on naturally growing and growing, because that's all the more people then glad to be living, who probably rather like reproducing too. The cost of shit disposal, is always trivial, compared to the great worth of yet another wonderful human life. Surely it's not unreasonable to expect the number of flush toilets throughout the world, to also grow.

Technically, human wastes are among the easiest wastes to "recycle" back into dirt, as they are already quite biodegradable. And they say that

"The grass grows greenest over the septic tank," so even nature seems to have a use for such things.

That's one thing that so disgusts me about so-called "environmentalists." They too often like to worry about such things as how much you or I consume of something, and try to shut down businesses and freedom, but how often do they do anything useful, like helping poor people simply get toilets, rather than flinging anti-life condoms in their face, to "help" the poor by racistly eliminating the poor?

And another thing. Developing countries need to become more like us, and modernize, to better support their burgeoning populations. We need to become more like them, and have more children.

It is commendable what I read about women in developing countries breastfeeding in public, as they love children, and so they have lots of children and aren't much into contraception.

The other thing I was thinking of, is that more poor people need to be getting gas and electric stoves and microwave ovens, to eliminate millions of smoky cooking fires of trash, wood, or dung, from their growing cities. As more people come to populate more densely together, we already know how people can be more "clean" in their habits, to better accomodate so many people. Why don't "environmentalists" work on the things that really matter?

Why don't "environmentalists" attack the direct "pollution" of the body, by nasty cancer stick cigarettes, or by nasty experimental anti-life contraceptives?

People who love children don't have much any need to "space" their children, because they have to have babies spaced closely together anyway, just to welcome all the children they were meant to have, if they should happen to be so fertile.

Just like how we don't hinder the heart pumping its blood, or limit how much people may breathe or eat, there's no excuse to try to criticize or limit how many babies women can push out from between their legs. More and more people would be glad to live anyway, so welcome people to populate up denser, wherever and whenever they can. Each and every human life is sacred, and so we ought not to try to hinder its creation.

Large families are cool, as the 10th child, is always worth just as much, as the 1st child, so we can't practically "limit" precious children.

Does anyone think its weird that we are the only animals on the planet that have to deal with this shit? (hehe) But seriously, that kind of proves that we are overpopulated. Every other animal ever alive has just pooped where they were when they needed to.

No, that only proves that God gave people intelligence, so that they wouldn't have but only "natural" means to accomodate their numbers, but also the benefit of "artificial" means also. It's an example of exercising dominion over nature. That rather than our rising "population pressure" finding any "limit," rather we are more dominant, and so our rising numbers, bends nature to more readily accept more and more people.

I can't imagine that it would be easy to find many people, in this modern age, who really think that to be so ridiculously underpopulated, that we can just poop anywhere we happen to be, could really be "enough" people to inhabit the world. Most people much prefer indoor flush toilets, to going outside to use the forest or the outhouse as a big toilet.

We obviously don't need to worry about how to limit our numbers, if we are simply a little careful with resources and waste disposal, for the benefit of ALL. People who are respectful, clean and tidy, obviously can populate rather close to one another in huge cities if or as need be, with little or no real problems that can't be fixed, without actually "limiting" numbers.

Which do you think most intelligent people would go more for? Creating jobs by building sewage and water treatment plants, or draconian population "control?" Which of the 2, is more likely to get politicians elected?

The populous masses should be breeding. They should even be encouraged to do so. It gives them something to do and helps keep them out of trouble. People tend to become more conservative when they have children, because, loving their children, they don't want them to repeat their mistakes. Besides, population growth is great for business. Because an expanding human population, will probably want or need, more of practically everything.

BTW, I also agree with a few other amusing signs of "overpopulation." Such as those embarassing? urine troughs in restrooms at some populous place such as many some sports stadium, at which an entire line of men can all be peeing at once, and it all going down the same little drain at the end. And of course communal shower rooms, wherever more than just a few people need to shower at the same time. No partition walls makes for more efficient use of space and easier cleaning, without having to raise gym or whatever dues or restrict hot water usage. (Not a good idea for toilets though I think, because people want a little more privacy for that, although latrine holes didn't always offer such partitioned privacy.) Of course, such "crowded" or "low privacy" places, don't really mean any "overpopulation" at all, but rather, the obvious cheaper means to better meet the needs of the populous many, without spending too much money in the process. Oh, and I think there should be baby diaper changing counters in men's restrooms too, because men can also change diapers. And I believe women should be allowed to breastfeed in public, in order that they can properly provide for their children, and since people eat in public. Breastfeeding in public, is no big deal, in developing countries more pronatalist than the U.S. is.

I would much rather for humans to breed most anywhere where one would normally sleep, than to poop just "anywhere." Come on, which is better? Abundant life, or sloppy dirty living and disease-prone conditions? We don't limit how much people poop, but only where they may poop. If you want to just let it come out, well why not just let the babies push out naturally too, since that is the natural advancement of the human race, and goes along with each and every human life being sacred, and thus we ought not to interfere with its creation.

I am not stupid. I don't suggest that humans breed willy-nilly, but rather to breed, with a plan. To go ahead and have possibly large families, on purpose, and state the reasons why. That helps us better to readily make the needed adaptations and better prepare for our nature increase, helping to insure that it will be no "problem" at all.

Of course leaves would work, just don't grab any poison ivy leaves.

Toilet paper is nicer, since it is more absorbant, and of a consistant width, well except for that narrow crap they give us in public restrooms.

Perhaps it is good to carry a spare roll of toilet paper, in a bag or something, in the truck or somewhere in the car. Oh, and maybe a camp shovel, that is if one camps in "wild" places any? A shovel might be useful for digging out, should the wheels get stuck in a rut. A can of sand can help for getting unstuck, on icy roads.

Toilets themselves are made of dirt. Fired clay, was once dirt. Ironic isn't it for a waste handling receptacle, itself to be made of dirt.

Solar composting toilets. An option for people without sewer connections.

The problem is that claimed pro-life people are only pro-human. The more humans there are, the less plants and animals, etc there are. To be truly pro-life, means ALL LIFE. Maxium biodiversity is the pro-life path. Humans, get over yourselves.

All life? What's that supposed to mean? Less room for more humans? That obviously isn't going to work to serve humans, so why should that interest humans?

Pro-life means pro-human life, because human life is a sacred gift from God. To favor other life, in place of human life, rather than to serve human life, is to make human life less seemingly sacred, and thus more vunerable and expendable.

How about "maximum biodiversity" within the naturally expanding human race? Surely that ought to count for something? Welcome human populations to grow "nearly as large as possible," to promote the most benefit for the most people.

Humans, get over yourselves? Huh? Not possible. When was the last time you checked the TV channels? People, people, people, on practically every channel.

Who is it that pays the taxes and elected the government officials? Only people. Who invents useful thing? Only people. Who helps people? Mostly people. What creatures already dominate the planet? People.

A few less trees, or a few less weeds, or a few less deer staring at oncoming headlights, is but a tiny price to pay, in order for us to enjoy having all the children we were meant to have, or "all the children God gives." Far better than going against nature to directly poison the body in needless attempts to sabotage its vital and natural reproductive system, and pervert natural, life-giving, procreative sex; with shallow and experimental contraceptive sex.

I go to a place where I use an outhouse for a long time...and I've basically agreed with myself that once I get older and settle down, I'm using an outhouse, not a toilet. In the city, however, that may be hard to do.

Outhouses just are not as sanitary. Because wastes aren't adequately buried, they attract flies, which are prone to spread disease. Besides, outhouses are often out in the freezing cold, or out in the rain, and they stink!

Outhouses make some sense, only out in the wilderness where basic utilities aren't available. But even in the countryside, septic tanks sometimes work quite well.

Septic tank systems are actually very efficient and hygenic. The leach fields return the extra water to the environment, and the bacteria that reduce the waste in the tank are contained and safe. You can make a home grown tank easily with a few empty drums and some clay pipe. It recycles the drums and makes them useful and it deals with the health issues of not treating waste, before returning it to the environment.

Yes, it would seem that human wastes actually can be quite good for the environment, and that nature has no "objection" to there coming to be more and more volume of human wastes with rising human populations. The challenge then, is how to keep them out of our drinking water. Septic tanks often do this well, in the right kind of soil, in rural areas. Septic tanks help "bury that which comes from thee," quite well, even for large and naturally growing families, in the rural settings.

They say "the grass grows greenest over the septic tank."

When I lived in the countryside as a child, we had a septic tank that never had any problems that I am aware of. Probably in the back yard, where we grew a big garden. The well I think, was buried under the front yard. Somehow, the soil, seems to filter the ground water quite well. And there were farms all around, with the occasional smells of the farmer spreading his manure. There were 4 of us children, plus 2 parents, for 6 people to share but just 1 bathroom. I shared my bedroom with a brother. It all seemed to work fairly well. The "normal" smells of country life, are rather fresh air, well at least most of the time, but also "natural" smells like manure or some skunk somewhere, in the distance.
