What is happening in this country today with our rights and freedoms going down the toilet makes all those wars fought in the past to "preserve our freedoms" a total farce, and all those who died fighting in them a total waste of life. This is a complete insult to those who fought in all past wars. Our flag is the flag of fools, and we are becoming the laughingstock of the world. This country is divided, and I think that if flags mean anything then there are those of us who need different one...

I believe what megara is alluding to is a mass brainwashing principle, some call it divide and conquer, controlled conflict, the real term for it is named after the guy that found it, starts with an H. You have a thesis, and an antithesis. The world powers manipulate these to produce a synthesis to their liking. Like republican vs. democrat. Capitalists vs. communists. It's all just manipulation by the people who really control things. Look into new world order or illuminati if you're interested,

i'd much rather a divided country like we've had for 225+ years than an overwhelming united one like Nazi Germany. There is discussion when there is division...

true, one reason i homeschooled myself through the highschool years.

  10. I'm sorry, to me that whole idea has always been an excuse for fundamentalists to dismiss every valid idea other than their own. Take a bunch of political philosophies attack them for being tools of the conspiracy and the only one left over is, voila, their own convenient point of view.

IMHO the problem is a strange and dysfunctional world changing at a frightening rate and people in a desperate bid to make sense of it all cling fanatically to one unwavering point of view. The above is just one example (kooky conspiracy theories)...I really hope i'm right, what hope do we have if we're all puppets on a string?

Back to the immigration argument. If the US is anything like Australia, the immigrants leave their country with shit, arrive with shit, and just hope that some charity volunteer (completely uneducated by the way) is available to teach them english. Some of them are forced to live on the street due to lack of assistance, they don't know what the fuck they are doing, how to act, frightened as fuck, and for most of them the only hope they have is to join a community of their own people...i think i'm painting a picture here. And i've probably left put the grimmest details. Now as an exercise of imagination, imagine you're one of those people, then get back to me.

Yes, we're doing them a favour. But lets not deny OUR responsibility in helping integrate them into the community. When it comes to matters of race and culture it seems to be all we do. Maybe thats divide and conquer working its magic.

lol, kooky? IDK about that man, it's a well known concept AFAIK. The hal-something theory or principle? fuck why can't I think of the name... Keep em poor keep em dumb keep em divided. Government is about controlling people, and I'm no fundamentalist, and I don't have any political philosophies to push on you people. It's just another way of controlling the masses. If you think it's that "kooky" do some research, guarantee you'll be surprised. I'm not saying believe one or the other theories about what group of people holds control, but if you read the theories on illuminati and new world order, they usually explain some of these ideas that you should probably know about. I'm just saying look into how the herd is controlled, it's interesting.

  12. I know what you mean and I wasn't saying you're a fundamentalist, you're obviously looking at the whole thing with reason. But the whole conspiracy thing is often used by minority groups like racists, extreme right-wingers, christian anarchists, christian fundamentalists, you name it, basically as an excuse to hold the rest of the world in contempt.

I say the whole idea is fine, and i'll look into it further, but I just hate when its used as an excuse to attack tolerance of different political beliefs on the grounds that they're all "tools of the conspiracy". They even attack anarchism...i mean, utterly disregard the whole idea. Of course it can be used as a tool against the conspiracy. But its not a damn political movement, self government is a universal idea. And it seeks to destory the very thing these conspiracy theorists whine about. The conspiracy thing might be just another big religious head fuck. Of course it might be true, but when I see how much it muddles up people's minds I have my doubts.

If your government is screwing over its’ people (or people of another country) then the “defiling” is after the fact. and the “disgraceful” ones are sitting in parliament.

Not properly representing its’ own constituents means that democracy is not in full effect anyway. Protesting (by burning the flag, etc.) is a righteous way of saying that you are not only dissatisfied with your politicians but that the inbuilt organ of democratic process is non-functional. Burning the flag (or otherwise protesting) is your duty. If you do nothing - then you share the guilt of your government.

I would DEFINITELY burn the flag of my country under such circumstances.

    Hi,

I would also never burn the flag of my Country. One reason is because the UK is a fantastic country!!.

The second reason is that if you did, then people would probably think that you're a terrorist!!,

    Will. :)

Actually, the test that most immigrants take to gain citizenship to the US is a gruelling and in depth test that tests them on the US history, role of government, branches of government, and an assortment of other pieces of our nation. Most natural born Americans would fail miserably if they were asked to take the test.

just because i took a biology test in high school doesn't make me a biologist...

and there are millions upon millions of illegal immigrants. They are the real problem, they take no test.

This country was founded by illegal immigrants. Who gave permission for the Europeans to invade and conquer the native tribes of the Americas?

*yawns* comparing 400 years ago to today is rather silly and fruitless.

Besides, many indians were nomadic and had no idea of ownership.
