Not only did I read the Long Walk I also drove the entire length with a friend of mine and we tried to guess the approximate locations some of the high-profile walkers got their ticket.

Yes, I like the original version of the Stand but the extended version is too long :(

I liked the extended version. I know a lot of people thought it was too much, but I really enjoyed it. King is my guilty pleasure, not exactly class literature. Great storytelling though.

I was young when I read that and it really disturbed me, too. I don't even remember what is was that I found so troublesome.

    HEY. no spoilers!!!

Man, I get so turned on by vampires, I anticipate the wetness....and a rough day at work, proceeding. ...sigh.
But I also read a review that said this book didn't make vampires sexy.
    Don't tell me though!

I read that one...super good book. I also saw the movie, and it was good, but lacked the detail of the book, as usual.

I am anxiously awaiting my garden coming back to life. So far my tulips and daffodils are peeking out and my chives, mint and oregano are starting. Few other bits are starting to show as well like irises and savory.

    Niiiice.
You should take pics of your garden and post them.
I wish we had a bigger garden here, like we do in Bosnia. Would be heavenly.

I will post some when they grow a little bigger. I put this bed in last year so this year my plants should be a little more mature and fill in the way it was designed too. I am now anxious to see what comes of some of them and then will fill in with new ones where I need more colour or depth of plants. :)

I rarely sit down to use the computer. It sits on my desk and I approach it reverently, even when I'm being irreverent. In fact I rarely sit or lie down or all day. That represents a repose I do not possess.

i've lived many places like that. i would give almost anything to live in one without having to own a car to do so now. people are a LOT easier to appreciate and love, when there are fewer of them around all the time everywhere.

well the city were i live now is more like suburbs interspersed with mini-malls. its an odd place that was never a real city back in the days when there were such things.

the one reason i ever would get another vehicle is so that i could move back out to some place like that. all of which may happen yet. at my age its not certain either way though. i'm old enough for medicare. my dad died before he was 70, but my mom lived to 91. so i guess anything is possible.

the only reason i have a state i.d. instead of a driver's license is i had a wife who wanted me to drive her around in a city that had a perfectly good bus system and the car i had when we met was falling apart anyway.

that was almost 20 years ago. before that i lived in oregon for ten years and before that in placer county in the sierra mountians for the first 30 years of my life.

that was deer and mountain lion and porcupine and pine martin country. out east of where i am now is basin and range which is coyote and rabbit a sage country.

the people i live with are ok, but some of the things they watch on tv i don't understand why. the dogs are nice too, but i'd really rather be able to have a garden with trains, like i did when my wife and i had the little place in roseville.

it was her income and then she died. but i have my own now. just not enough to stay in that valley that i didn't like anyway. so now i'm closer to my mountains, but on the other side of them. in sparks nevada.

we sort of don't have to listen, we can pug in our ear phones, but when they drown out all those other sounds i'd rather hear, its not a matter of listening or choosing to.

I hate being stared at while at a restaurant and I'm trying to eat. I can't deal with it.

(I tried to scoot over so that the person he was with blocked him from my view..and then HE scooted over) FML
