bug repellant?

hey anybody got any good recipes for a natural bug repellant. i want to make some for a friend who hates using commercial bug dope on her skin.

I have a lot of mint hanging up to dry because it is good for repelling bugs and also smells so good. but i don't know if i should make a lotion out of it, or soak it in something and put it in a spray bottle.... maybe soak it in olive oil to rub on your skin?
anybody ever do this? have any tips?

Lemons too, I've heard you can put Lemon Joy is a bowl on your picnic table and it will keep the buggies away from the area.
