I noticed several groups of young Brits when I was there in September. Some were a bit on the rambunctious side. They were not anything like the soccer holligans we hear about. Young guys in a group tend to be that way sometimes. To me, the know it all Americans are far more annoying. My reading is that the Dutch tend to be more reserved and expect behaviours that are more polite than what has come to be the norm among young people in the UK. It's their nation and their culture. When you visit, you can expect to be measured according to their standards. Civility, a lot of people say, seems to be on the decline. We can do a lot to counter that trend by simply acting decently.
When the Brits learn to behave? Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't the Brits teach the USA good manners and ettiquette? Stereotyping is a horrible thing... give it a rest IronGoth.
Yeah, sure. Brits don't act like hooligans at foreign football matches and they sure as hell aren't juvenile delinquent chav scum at home and abroad. Give it a rest, that whole Jennings goes to School Hogwarts fairies and elves shit went out in the 50s. Now England is a cesspit full of oiks. I'm from there, love the place but I won't romanticise it. The average brit is more like that fat guy from Little Britain pretending to be that chav cow than anything.
Come on, we all know the Chavs are little more than a significant minority... there are far more of us well mannered non chavs, we just dont get the publicity do we! And anyway, our football hooligans are slowly but surely, one by one, being banned from football matches. Where abouts do you live? If its anywhere Southern I sympathise, I am but a simple Northerner....
Haha. I think banning alcohol from the Brits would be a great idea, at least when they go abroad. Of course I'm making a big generalization but it's funny how easy it is to spot a British tourist coz he's always the loudest, most obnoxious one with a bottle of beer in his hand (and leaves a track of empty bottles behind him).
Do any of you seriously think it will stop us smoking weed? Well it might in shops if it gets banned but otherwise!!
I have a funny feeling IronGoth does not live in the UK, this would explain a great deal here, quad erat demonstradum.
QED just means "quad erat demonstrandum", that is, "what we were showing". All it says is that you're at the end of a proof, not that it's particularly elegant or worthy. You may have seen it correlate highly with elegant proofs, but that's mostly because we don't go around showing people the ugly ones. ...........lol i had to look it up!
