You think I singled out Muslims for some nefarious reason?

The fact that you singled them out in my post even though I said the same thing about the other groups is what I find nefarious. It looks like you're trying real hard to find a reason to be offended. Bad optics, man. Very bad....

So? All that says I cared about the Muslim part and not the Redneck Hick part. You can't expect me to defend everyone, can you?

That's funny right there. I recon not. Also, while there may or may not be more merit in those you defend, I find the hicks to be far more entertaining, even if they're not particularly worth defending, either. Something about that redneck mentality and accent just makes them so hilarious.

Case in point: One of my former sisters-in-law is muslim. When she told my brother she wanted a divorce, he gave it to her on the spot. One day he mentions that he's getting rid of the boat and a truck, and she immediately jumped on them both, saying: "I want them!" He gave them both to her. Now, their neighbor the hick heard of this and all he could say to my brother in response was: "She got yer BOAT? AND yer PICKUP TRUCK? THAT AIN'T RIIIIGGHT!" His vocalization made it even more hilarious than it initially was. He made it sound like my brother got neutered. She ended up having to maintain the boat and payments for the truck. My brother later got a call from her asking him to come and get the boat, 'cuz she just wasn't using it. Here was a shining case of "Loss Aversion" in action. You've no doubt seen this when couples squander thousands of dollars arguing over hundreds of dollars worth of easily-replaceable junk during a divorce.

That neighbor, a true redneck hick if ever there was one, was the source of many entertaining moments over the years they lived there.

I don't think some of the people posting got this. Nor did they get that this thread was started in 2010 and that Tipsy already said above in 2011 that she was not moving.... of course now it doesn't matter at all because the thread morphed away from Tipsy.

I have three former sisters in law. They are of various degrees of pain in the rear-end. Their mother is from West Virginia. The father was a Marine and the best of them.

oh certainly. It's not going to random thing or taken lightly. It's going to involve lots of research and whatnot.

Yeah it's not even the cost of living here its the cost of doing business. My partner and I have a little catering business that we plan to expand into a brick and mortar restaurant. But live in the 2nd to worst city in the US to run a restaurant.

definitely. but i've lived in a few small towns and, while most aren't as bad as this one, they're all pretty much the same.

Is @TipsyGypsy still around? I think she is on sabbatical. :sunglasses:

Anyway, I did not know she's from Tennessee or that she's British! :)

Maybe a cruise across the Atlantic while I sit in at the bar. Canoe is too hardcore for me.
