Would anyone care to share how they have gotten by the most economical way when money was tight this century or last? The cheapest recipes that got you through hard times are most welcome. Thank you in advance.
i'm not british and food is the one way that i've never really been economical, but the obvious answer is always ramen noodles. i did eat those a lot in college, and they're actually better than a lot of food that doesn't cost 15 cents for a meal.
Thank you. I know about Ramen noodles. This is about what other people do in the world. It is cultural thing because the British use things that the North Americans don't use very much. Thank you for your input.
I have a British friend who lives here in the States and he tells me that, whenever he visits home, his mom cooks him cow tongue. He tells her he doesn't want it but she informs him that yes, he does.
Buy in bulk. It's expensive up front, but it is cheaper overall. The price per unit thing really means something. Don't know if you guys across the pond have that in the UK, but three steaks at once always cost less than one steak three different times.
I Suggest "Baked Beans On Toast".......It Works In Australia......I Can See No Reason Why It Won't Work In The UK..... Cheers Glen.
Fish Finger burgers. Buy fish fingers, baps, lettuce and mayonnaise. Stack in your preferred order. Cheap and nutritious.
Hi Ged......Just A Note To Say I Just Put You On "Ignore".......Why I Hear You Inquire.......Well After Reading About "Fish Fingers" I Went And Cooked Six.......So If I Grow Fat And Ugly It's All Your Fault...... Cheers Glen.
Egg noodles, courgettes, (zucchini) cheese and soy sauce. Boil the noodles whilst you saute sliced courgettes. Layer the courgettes on the bed of noodles and grate cheese on top. Chuck a dash of soy sauce. I prefer Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce but I don't known if that is available in US.
