Bringing in libertarianism

  1. Sorry to pick on one little phrase but thank god an american lefty is able to see some sense. NST or GST in Australia has done a great deal to widen the gap between rich and poor in our nation since. Fucking forget it, seriously. Its just as if not more criminal than income tax.

im a libertarian and i just found out about this thread. i tried reading threw everyone's post so i could respond to some stuff but there is just too much to respond to. if anyone has any questions about libertarianism i would be more than happy to answer them. looking through this thread i found a good amount of truths and a good amount of fallacies. here are a couple of the truths... libertarians do believe in minimal government and maximum freedoms/rights for the people. libertarians do understand that all taxes are legal under the 16th amendment. people here also keep bringing up the wealth idea. people dont have a right to money. it is a privelage that you work for and earn. the people who are rich are rich for a reason. they or someone in their lineage earned it. Welfare states only bring crime and laziness. these people collect free money and usually arent productive members of society. another truth is that libertarians believe in capitalism. too many people (such as balbus) think that the only issue concerning libertarians is the economy even though there are so many other issues as well... that define someone as a libertarian. another unfortunate truth is that there are many factions to the libertarian party. there is a lot of infighting and that is generally why libertarians dont get elected. despite this fact there are libertarians in elected offices across the country. libertarianism is the largest third party in america.

so now that i have rambled on about some of the truths and fallacies that i have seen in this thread (and some that i just decided to post) feel free to post any questions.

one more important truth that i saw. someone connected libertarianism to anarchism. this is not even close to true. if ur going to say such nonsense then u should go do a little research to find out that u r wrong.

I've always been somewhat interested in the ideas of Libertarianism, but still have qualms with it.
