Can any Brexit supporter explain what we have won yet? They told us to wait and see and we’d see what we have won, wait and see, wait and see….wait and see Well again can any Brexit supporter explain what we have won yet? * It seems to me that what a lot of rich and corrupt right wingers that had pushed for Brexit have tied the country to is the rotting corpse of a unicorn
Dover and Calais quiet as first lorries cross English Channel under post-Brexit border rules So far there has been little sign of the much-anticipated disruption from the new border rules that result from the UK's departure from the EU Single Market and Customs Union. First lorries cross English Channel under post-Brexit border rules
Jolly England is now the proud owner of a lifetime supply of soothing hemorrhoid crème, and you will learn to bend over for Wall Street upon command.
VG LOL did you even read what the articule said - This is not unexpected — it's New Year's Day, a public holiday, pandemic restrictions have curbed holiday travel, and many companies have acted to stockpile goods in the run-up to Christmas and the end of the transition period.
Again i ask - can any Brexit supporter explain what we have won yet? What is better than what we had?
An excellent question that perhaps even the brilliant mind of Boris can not answer. The flip side of course, is what have you lost? (Asking as an outsider...)
For starters, I thought there was supposed to be chaos on the border crossings, trucks lined up for days etc, from the first day This thread is the last pathetic attempt to make a mountain out of a mole hill until everyone realises all the left wing gloom and doom predictions aren't going to happen
LOL And still no answer from those that supported Brexit I’ll ask again - what have we won – what is better now than what we had? The lack of an answer screams louder than any of your evasions.
Zen Well quite a lot not just tangibles but also intangibles like our dignity and standing in the world. But lets keep it simple and a flavour - so maybe the best way to describe it to an American (although not an exact replication) is to imagine that a state (let’s say Kansas) decided not to me a member of the US Union anymore – before leaving Kansans had free movement of goods, services and people with the other 49 states, now that has stopped. The Kansans can travel around Kansas freely and trade within Kansas freely but if they want to go or trade with any of the 49 US states they are treated like anyone coming from another country. Kansans can visit as tourists but they can’t stay or live for long periods without a visa and other paperwork they can’t just find a job without proper documentation unless they want to do the kind of work that can be done illegally. Kansans (people that were born in Kansas) living outside of Kansas at the time it left the union and wish to carry on living in the US will need to apply for residency/citizenship of the US. It’s basically the same with trading – where there were once few if any restrictions there is now extra paperwork to be filled in correctly or the trade cannot take place. Yes agreements can be made to try and smooth corners but that gives a flavour of what those who pushed for Brexit have done to the UK
@Balbus thanks for your explanation. We often pondered that question while living in Northern California. During that time there were several initiatives for splitting up the state, and/or leaving to form it's own country. What I observed at the time was a group desperate to divide, then conquer the remaining less powerful bits. Some real true believers they were, and possibly still are... Q people mostly I think as of lately. It is one thing to observe from afar and be critical, and another to actually live through the chaos and confusion, loss of self-respect and livelihood for the sake of someone else's ideals.
An old sparing partner Mal posted in another thread when askd the question what is better now than what we had? went on a rant obout how bad the EU was doing now, apart from it been basically unture it also gives an insight it seems for many Brexit people it wasn't about making things better for 'us' but making things worse for 'them' or at least saying things are worse for 'them' The idea been that if we left it didn't matter how much damage we did to ourselves and the UK the hope was that it would do enough damage to the EU that it would collapse or be badly wounded?
This whole spirit of divisiveness is getting pretty tired. It's time for the world to pull together and heal the fractures and breaks that greed and intolerance have brought to us all. Being distracted from the world burning up in front of our eyes with all this political bullshit is essentially a technique used by those who favor anarchy, disorder and fascism so they can control us all in their new world order.
