too hot to bike to work today, but the rest of the week looks perfect. might go for a ride this evening when it cools off.

What's up guys. I used to be a regular here for like a year, but I haven't been to this site in ages. Bored this summer so I decided to get back on.

 

some of the better shops who specialise in rebuilding will put a metal on the block..usually on the rear where its very hard to find

other than that theres really no way to tell...another thing some mechanics will do is use a paint marker on the inside of the timing cover to leave a date so other mechanics can tell when/if the timing belt was changed


only one ive ever rebuilt complete was for college..one of the credits was to dissassemble a running engine and then reassemble it and get it running again...but i decided to take one of my own engines and do a total rebuild instead of using one of the schools junk...when i come across a car needing a rebuild i just talk the owner into replacing it with a junkyard one...the crashed up ones have never let me down...id never buy a used engine from a non-crashed car..my main ride right now (SUV) has a junker engine in it that runs perfect
