Not voting just gives the manipulators that many more 'free' votes to toss around.

Those who choose not to vote out of some sort of misguided notion it is going to accomplsih something, just haven't thought it through.

Every left leaning person who doesn't vote, is giving a vote to the right, vice versa for those on the right.

I love how people scream about freedom and taking back their government and so on, and then sit there and say how they don't participate in the current system...

You know what is worse then the lying and manipulation taking place at high levels?

The lack of participation in trying to fix it at the common level.

Not voting is literally giving away any chance there is to fix the problems we face peacefully. You are sitting back and waiting for 'something' to come along and fix the problems for you, and you know what? It will NEVER happen.

I've been an avid voter since I've been old enough to vote. However, I'm with JMT. The last presidential election left me feeling duped. We may as well have Walmart and Exxon as our candidates since that's who REALLY runs the country anyway. Obama, Bush, Clinton.... They're all puppets. All of my local elected officials are puppets. No. Finger puppets, since they're so insignificant.

I had heard somewhere that in 2004, more people voted for the final episode on American Idol than in the presidential election. What's the fucking point anymore?

    right

NEVER EVER GIVE UP YOUR VOTING RIGHTS

the religious fanatics swarm to the polls to keep wars going.

the longer you give your country over to people that promote wars on the rest of humanity the longer and harder your life will be.

they will destroy you and your country.

someone fanatically indoctrinated has allegiance only to his party, leader or religion

everything else can go to hell which explains why america is collapsing.

after investing so much time and money and lives fighting wars in other countries started by lobby groups to appease god, unemployment is going up and net worth of individuals of the majority is going down.

america has been marching across the globe since ww2 at the behest of any lobby group strong enough to strong arm democracy.

lobby groups don't vote anyone in, lobby groups don't care about america only their own little objectives.

Our votes don't count anyways. The government will do what it will, whether that means changing the vote counts, or putting Marshall Law into effect (in the US)

    +rep.

Can't seem to make a lot of people understand this. If they spent all the time that they currently spend trying to undermine the government instead trying to FIX it (before those in power change it so that's impossible) then it would allready be fixed.

We have a wonderful government. The people currently RUNNING the government are out of control, but our government is bigger and better than any one evil person who holds a job within it. We have out of control agencies, banks, individuals, but the core of our government, the US constitution, is what matters.

That's because people would rather bitch and do nothing. They have let apathy take control of the system. To be clear, this isn't just an american issue either, in canada, more people don't vote, then those who vote for the winner. In other words, going by a majority vote, we would have no government here... lol

Those who have given up down there are worse though, here, our current head of government (harper) has all but declared himself a dictator by shutting down parliment to avoid being voted out... And yet I still say everyone who has the right, should vote.

It's one day every couple of years for fuck sakes, its not like you are being asked to pick up a gun and go fight in a war.

Wait a minute here now... when we have a presidential election the average percentage of voter turn out is about 40-50%...

so in other words, your idea of boycotting voting has already been implemented.

in other general elections, voter turn out is about 25%.

so sadly to say, your idea is working and the GOP and the conservative establishment likes that and banks on it.

    way to go!:groupwave:

One of my heartsongs is to see a popular vote implemented instead of the electoral college. that and a general strike!

screw doctors, they already make a hundred thousand plus dollars a year. higher taxation? taxes are already high enough. doctors often make enough money in a year to pay off everything they needed to go to medical school to begin with. the only dumb thing here is the fact none of you see that all these opposing sides have the same rulers. read up on the hegelian dialect

btw-poster above me is an admitted marxist. so who are they to call traditionalists dumb? what is really dumb is letting the government increase in size and power, only to not be held accountable fior what they do. a small sized government is a lot more prone historically to abide by basic checks and balances. and certainly way more responsive to populist sentiments from the people. more democratic than many self declared democrats are, that's for certain

    I never said I was a Marxist.

Why would you be upset about healthcare reform Elijah?
You dont have a job so you dont have to pay taxes to fund any changes.
Unless you are upset because perhaps some of your FREE GOVERMENT HEALTHCARE you receive will change?

Come back and bitch about healthcare AFTER you get a job and the insurance you PAY for wont cover-pre-existing condtions.;)

    YAY!!!! Healthcare reform passed!!!!!!! :D

theres no point in voting in the usa. all the winners are predetermined. think about this. if the american elite can just go into japan and overthrow haytoyama because he wouldnt host u.s. military bases, then why would they allow democracy in the usa? thaksin in thailand was also overthrown because he wouldnt cater to u.s. interests
