Boycott the Olympics !

WTF?

 

How does one "boycott the Olympics"? What does one do? or not do?
I wasn't planning on attending even if China's human rights record was good.

1)I won't watch any of the Olympics on TV
2)I will badmouth the Olympics being held in China to anyone whenever the subject comes up.

In reply to the person who may or may not be from China and is accusing us of the USA of being hypocritical because of what our Government has done- I say our Government, at this time, does not represent the views of the majority of Americans and will soon be held accountable to the good people of America for the wrongs they have inflicted on us and the rest of world.I think the good people of the USA are on the verge of waking up "en masse" to the lies and deception we've been brainwashed to believe and soon there will be a genuine revolution!

Meh, I don't watch the Olympics anyways. I don't like sports...
but I doubt not watching would do anything, or even boycotting. When has it ever? There's not enough people who care, too many people who would keep on watching.
And why boycott Chine hosting the Olympics because of something that has nothing to do with the Olympics? That's like Boycotting something because the WORLD has done something bad. Too vague.

I disagree with those who say I am just wishful thinking when I say people are waking up and soon will rise up in the U.S.A.This website is an example of people waking up.The internet has allowed people to share info about what is really going on in the world and eventually there will be enough people educated to see through the lies and bullshit.The ones in power want us to lose hope and give up.They want us to believe there is no use in fighting back.They want us to just go along with the program and they will do everything they can to brainwash us daily to be obediant slaves.Dante wrote that a sign above Hell read:Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.If you abandon hope,you have accepted the evil one's version of hell on earth.The only thing evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing.(I forget who's quote that is).

 

I'm hearing that Steven Spielburg has withdrawn from his position with The Olympics.

 

I just read that the Dalai Lama is not for boycotting the Olympics.I wonder if he is just saying that "officially" so that China won't try to attack him again or what? I would think he would be for the boycott,but he said that action would be too extreme!He does support the awareness by the world community about the human rights issues,but doesn't support a boycott.I have a lot of respect for the Dalai Lama's opinion,but I'm confused about his position on this issue.Any thoughts out there?

 

There is good reason to boycott it. And the loss of sales of related items such as tshirts, buttons, airfares, and promotional materials will make an impact. China has invested a lot in this. Advertisers will be impacted. This is one of the areas where the consumer does make a difference.

Carter had us boycott the Moscow 1979 Olympics. The Soviets boycotted our 1984 Olympics. It does make a difference. Before it was athletes not participating. I think consumers not purchasing will make an even bigger impact on China.

 

Pls stop reading your newspapers that always tell lies,just come to China and have a look.......

"it does not even have freedom of religion"----I am sure you know nothing about China and just have been brainwashed by people who have secret political purpose.

I really failed to understand why you can not get any fact about China through your media,while in China there are so many news reporting the positive aspects of USA.


I have many American friends,they had bad impression about China when they were in USA,but now feel everything is ok after they came to China,worked and studied in China.

You just need a visit to China,I am sure..

 

i already decided to boycott any sports in USA because the millions human right violation case they did in Iraq, Vietnam, and many other countries.
i already decided to boycott any sports in Japan because they are horrible to those cute whales!

 

Going to China doesn't make a difference. I think China is a world-wide bully and I will not tolerate it.

I really appreciat you critical thinking, but can you tell me why you boycott Olympics, just tell me the reasons
as a Chinese, I think I know more than you especially the thinking and daily life of common Chinese people
actually I was cheated by our Chinese media sometime, eg I know little what happen in Burma but on the contrary, I think you may also be cheated by American media, can you give me some example about human right abuse?

 

He, Dalai Lama, has organised some persons to disturb the daily life of common people in both Tibet and Gansu Province, it is possible that he will do "something" for Olympics, if he done, he will refuse to confess, because
Dalai Lama:" I think that action would be too extreme!"

he never been in Tibet for 25 years but he know the human rights issue of Tibet?? Why he say something under the name of Human Right just consisting with the slogan of American policians, I have to say he is a clever or cunning person, but I quit cannot understand your respect of Dalai who was used to be a slaveholder. I wonder you respect him what, do you know his stories??
