......anyone read it? come to think of it...has anyone read the harry potter parody...i think it's called barry trotter or something....?
well, bored of the rings is a parody of lord of the rings, it's funnier if you've read lotr and then read botr......frodo is called frito, bilbo is called dildo bugger and they live in the sty not the shire and they aren't hobbits but boggies and they are foul gluttonous sexmad creatures vaguelly related to rats. but frito is one of a kind, he feels out of place and basically he wanders around tlking about flowrs and things. then there is tim benzidril who is like tom bombadil and the skunkiest hippie ever....
Yes I've read it, long time ago, think my copy is in the shed at the moment, with the shall they go to a charity shop pile. If I remember rightly its National Lampoons Bored of the Rings, and its got that kind of sixth form/lavatorial humour(hmm Im sounding like a bundle of laughs person here I know!) that you associate with their films and magazines. Think "Animal House" and you get the idea......... Dildo Bugger is though a fine, er, upstanding name...............
it's too much. like, it's overdone like harry potter.... leave it alone. it's everywhere like fuck go away!
Since someone bumped this ancient thread up from the Third Age to now, I'll say--I read Bored of the Rings. It was years ago, though, when I was, uh, less mature than I am now, and I hadn't actually read LOTR (have now, 3 times). But I'll admit that back when I read it, I thought it was funny as hell, and when I did get around to reading the original I thought the parody was done by some clever people. But tasteless? Oh yes, it's that.
I guess that would be back in print here in the post LOTR movie era. Read it back when I read LOTR for the first time, back when I was in my early teens. And I still am known to use the line "I hope that's food, 'cause I'm gonna eat it."
If they did, I'm sure the National Lampoon's lawyers have had words with them about it. If I'm remembering right, even the cover of my edition of BOTR was a parody of a LOTR poster--the one that was the cover of the Ballantine Books edition published before the edition with the Tolkien watercolors on the covers.
are we talking about lord of the rings or bored of the rings now? coz i have a feeling some people are getting confused. i like botr, though it is quite dated now. lotr is a harder read, but still good,(in my opinion)
I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm talking about BOTR. I read a little of it. I stopped reading after the part of the book when the elf starts stripping near Frito. Not cool.
not cool? butbut the hairiness! the feet! the the.....mmm hobbits are cute the elf with her voluptious.......ears!
