Yup, I take medication every day to supress my immune system. It has this annoying habit of attacking my body and making my joints hurt.
Pork fat. Good for lubricating joints. Eat pork. Don't shy out of the crackling. I know with all the falls and horse accidents my body can ache in the joints, pork belly on rice, lots of pork fat.. I'm feeling pretty good the next day. =]
1) Stomach bug (aka: stomach flu, gastroenteritis, norovirus) -- it's basically the virus people get during the winter months that makes them puke and shit for 24 hours. 2) ACV contains enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and minerals that others vinegars do not. We are talking 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide, which isn't the same stuff you get over-the-counter. The food-grade stuff only requires a few drops in a 12 oz glass of water. It oxygenates the body and thus kills pathogens. It's pretty much a miracle cure of sorts, and is beneficial not only for curing only colds, but a host of diseases and ailments. It is just slowly starting to catch on. However, many people, myself included, have seen huge results in simply pouring a cap full of regular store-bought hydrogen peroxide in each ear upon the first signs of a cold. The mechanism is unknown, but it appears to stop colds in their tracks. However, it must be done when symptoms first develop. Right, they're called autoimmune diseases, and most of this is caused by people eating pasteurized and irradiated foods, as well as the overuse of antibacterial soaps, etc. This is why exposure to germs keeps healthy immunity in check. Autoimmune diseases are rare in people who eat the rights foods, avoid excessive exposure to antibacterial agents, and have a healthy gut flora.
Great tips and information. I've also always avoided dairy products when I'm sensing sickness. It seems to help
Yes, healthy fats from olive oil and coconut oil are extremely good for the immune system. Coconut oil is especially good for the immune system as it contains lauric acid, which gets converted to monolaurin in the body, which is found to have anti-viral and immune-boosting properties. As far the vitamin D, it's hard to get an adequate amount from food alone. The best natural source of vitamin D is the sun, so most people, regardless of their diet, will likely be deficient in vitamin D during the winter months granted they do not live near the equator. Most people who live far enough away from the equator are chronically deficient, which can result in more chronic diseases like obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
I know this is the popular notion, that vinegar is rich in minerals, vitamins (including potassium, calcium, and beta-carotene), complex carbohydrates and fiber, pectin, amino acids, and beneficial enzymes. I did a little checking and there seems little if any validity to the claim. When standard nutritional analyses of apple cider vinegar are done, it is found to be a poor source of most of these nutrients. According to the USDA, apple cider vinegar has no measurable vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, beta-carotene, or folate -- and it’s equally lacking in amino acids, lycopene, or any other nutritional elements.
These all sound good. Mega dosing like this sounds potentially dangerous or at least counter productive. I would recommend against this unless you have a vitamin deficiency, or there is a credible study that suggests anyone can take these many vitamins on a regular basis without adverse effects. I think you've also claimed that all diseases can be cured with vitamins D and C, which tends to confirm in my mind that this is just nutty. I would also put this in the nutty category unless there is credible evidence (e.g., not a study by Dr. Mercola) to the contrary.
Bullshit. 5,000 units of vitamin D is hardly a "mega-dose," but rather what the human adult requires granted they do not spend at least 30 minutes a day in direct sunlight. Mind you, some people do, but many do not whom live on northern parts of the globe. 5,000 is based on the latest research of a safe daily dose for vitamin D for average weight adults. Most people could tolerate twice the amount, but 5,000IU is a safe cutoff supported by the most up-to-date research. If people are worried then they need simply have their levels checked. I personally take 7,000 units daily during the winter months, and have been doing so for years. I take 4,000 units daily the rest of the year. I have experienced no ill effects. Furthermore, vitamin C is one of the safest, most non-toxic vitamins and is water soluable. They have given cancer patients doses as high as 100,000mg intraveneously. The body can tolerate extremely large doses of vitamin C, so 5 grams is a rather modest dose by comparison. As far as vitamin C wiping out any virus in a large enough dose, this comes from one of the world's top scientists in immunology -- not me or Mercola. As far as hydrogen peroxide... at least have the brain to read up on something before you criticise it. Otherwise you're just a moron.
mega doce of vitamin c has been used to treat cancer, ive read some patients get vitamin c therapy through a drip line. i dont think it has any adverse effects as you pee out what your body doesnt use. in my opinion, i haven't found any credible studies on hydrogen peroxide having a positive effect. every company that has enough money to do research like the cancer.org and some other public health institutions say theres no credible studies so far. the sites that do promote hydrogen peroxide are very questionable to say the least, the kind that promote folky and new agey type of cures. would really like some good info on this because i actually know people who do it.
additionally, i would warn people to really look into the hydrogen peroxide thing because i can only see harm comming from hydrogen peroxide therapy. usually, from the people i know that do it, and from all the websites i have seen that promote it, they all say it is for getting oxygen in your body. i believe this is flawed logic because if you are a normal healthy person 97% (average) of the hemoglobin in your blood will be oxygenated. 96% all the way to 98% is a normal healthy range. i dont see how a little bit of extra oxygen molecules will make any difference. also, there is oxygen toxicity if there is too much oxygen in your blood which is harmful or fatal. and even if you do want a little extra oxygen, why not go with a safer already known alternative like an oxygen mask. all in all, i think there are way more risks associated with hydrogen peroxide and no proven benefits. what do you guys think??
I havent been getting enough sun lately. This whole coming up week its supposed to be in the low 70s so I plan on spending at least 30 minutes outside each day around noon.
I thought I remembered reading 15 minutes a day will do the trick, as far as seasonal affective disorder, dunno about the vitamin d. I drink a lot of milk though. Don't say a word, Pressie. lol
15 minutes would probably be enough for me, since I am pretty pale. But I dont have much work this week so I plan to do some hiking and biking.
