"I Have Lived Before": The True Story of the Reincarnation of Shanti Devi.

This is the first known book on reincarnation based on the recollections of a little girl who claimed to remember a past life as a wife and mother in a different region . She persistently pleaded to her parents to let her go to the region mentioned(Mathura) and once even ran away from home to reach Mathura.

Upon reaching the place she was able to remember minute details of the place and her past life family, though she was seeing the place for the first time in her life. A brief article on her life by Dr. K.S. Rawat can be found in this link.

When Mahatma Gandhi heard about the case he set up a commission to investigate the case in 1935 and invited Shanti Devi to his ashram. Sture Lonnerstrand, a Swedish critic, came all the way from Sweden to expose the “fake,” as he thought it to be, but after investigation wrote, “This is the only fully explained and proven case of reincarnation there has been."

A book about her was published by Sture Lonnerstrand in 1994, and the english translation appeared in 1998 titled, "I Have Lived Before: The True Story of the Reincarnation of Shanti Devi".

She was also interviewed by Dr. Ian Stevenson who stated, “I also interviewed Shanti Devi, her father, and other pertinent witnesses, including Kedarnath, the husband claimed in her previous life. My research indicates that she made at least 24 statements of her memories that matched the verified facts.”

Edgar Cayce wrote some decent books regarding Reincarnation. Last I knew they were available reasonably priced as paperback. I have several of his works.

A free pdf book of Dr. Brian Weiss's bestselling book, Many Lives, Many Masters: The True Story of a Prominent Psychiatrist, His Young Patient, and the Past-Life Therapy That Changed Both Their Lives.

    http://mindguruindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/MP056_many-lives-many-masters-brian-weiss.pdf

Dr. Brian Weiss is a western psychiatrist, traditional psychotherapist and author who have written books on past life regression using insightful case studies of his patients, which have become bestsellers. Dr. Weiss claims he has regressed more than 4,000 patients since 1980. Weiss advocates hypnotic regression as therapy, claiming that many phobias and ailments are rooted in past-life experiences whose acknowledgment by the patient can have a curative effect.

'Many lives, many masters' was Weiss's first book which catapulted him to fame worldwide. It narrated the case study of his patient 'Catherine' , who began discussing under hypnosis past life experiences , which seemed to exert influence on her present life experiences, judgements, relationships and even psychological illnesses.

I would love to know more about past life regression. I've had dreams of situations that I'm in that are in very different settings than in modern times and I know there's something to it.

The Sri Ramakrishna Mission is one of the most highly regarded religious institutions in India.

Swami Vivekananda was the chief disciple. He came to the West around 1900. He was regarded by Mahatma Gandhi as a living saint. One of the only people he regarded as such.

He was well received by many, many people, from a wide variety of backgrounds, even by the innovative scientist, Nikolai Tesla.

The disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, like Swami Abhedananda were all absolutely incredible people. Whenever there was a flood or famine in India...they were there, helping. They all took vows of poverty and all lived on next to nothing.

Swami Vivekananda was also known to have an incredible sense of humor, always joking, making people happy. And he even did impressions of people.

He had a very dark complexion and was frequently mistaken for being African-American. Out of solidarity, he never corrected anyone, even though he was constantly abused for "being" African-American.

    on reincarnation...

there was a demographic study done of people who have done past life regression. It accurately reflected the occupations throughout history. The joke has been that everyone seems to report having been famous or a king. But, in fact, actual studies show that most people report being farmers and merchants...and do so in the actual historical percentages of those occupations.

The ancient Greek religion of Orphism had reincarnation as part of its teachings.

The Orphics believed that spiritual exercises and ritual purification ( teletē ) brought about salvation from the material existence, and liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth. Those who were uninitiated were subject to repeated reincarnation after spending a period of time in Hades .

Below is a pdf book on reincarnation in Orphism and ancient greek philosophy .
