I have asimple soloution for the question of to go or not to go?
if you think it will be fun, go. If you'd rather spend your time and money elsewhere, do that but any more bashing and this thread is gone.
    Also:
I want PROOF from all the people who say Superfly is partnered with CC in any form.
No one's offered that in THREE YEARS of my asking.

"Clear Channel Communications Inc., a global leader in advertisement and entertainment announced the acquisition of New Orleans based Superfly Productions. Superfly has had recent success with the summer music festival Bonnaroo. Specifics of the acquisition have yet to be disclosed, but estimates put the purchase price around $12 million in common stock and cash. Clear Channel plans to capitalize on Superfly's ability to produce successful and profitable festivals and concerts. In addition, Clear Channel can instantly cash in on the positive name recognition of Bonnaroo and such upcoming acts as the sold out live music cruise called Jam Cruise. "Clear Channel has been very successful in producing a variety of live concerts and events. By adding Superfly's reputation and name recognition, they can open even more inroads into the live 'jam' based music scene," says New York industry analyst Melba Toeste. "Clear Channel is king at the mass-marketing of production and advertisement for live concert events, but lacks certain name cachet and credibility among fans and musicians alike." Toeste points out. Plans are already underway to create a Bonnaroo-like music festival featuring headliners Cher and Blue Man Group. Designing the festival in the style of Bonnaroo will allow Clear Channel to increase ticket sales while optimizing fan enjoyment."

Ok, a legitimate news story link, you know industry news like you see CC in every day?
I contend that the takeover was a rumor.
As of last year, the Superfly guys were denying connection to CC in Relix.

I have no Idea what Melba Toast is, nor what makes a jam band a jam band, or who is a "jam band" and who isn't. Nor do I care if Clear Channel whiped Superflies ass on a hot summers night. You said you've been asking for three years so I pasted in the first googled response.

    PEACE

The only thing that raised my eyebrow was "Plans are already underway to create a Bonnaroo-like music festival featuring headliners Cher and Blue Man Group"

:) Good points. You know factor all that you said in with the fact that I am just jealous that I can't go and you can see why I sound so bitter.

    Have a blast everyone. :)

    Well on a positive note:

Superfly productions is in no way affiliated with Clear Channel. I researched it last night for an hour or two and came up with no evidence supporting this claim.

Why does everyone feel so hurt about the line-up? Superfly are being innovators, there is no fest in the country with the set-up they have and enough bands of each genre to keep you busy all day long. I am def in support, but I will also hit up 10k because i do love that smaller vibe feel.

Whats with all the bitchin about the line up ??? Festivals are more about than just the music !!!! I came over from the U.K last year & didn't know more than 1/2 the line up there, yea sure I knew the main headliners & a few other bits & pieces & I had a great time there, regardless of who was playing !!! It's all about the atmosphere & the people who you meet there, I say if you've not been before, your gonna enjoy it. I may even be coming back this year cos I had soo much fun, You wanna see commercial Festivals !!!! Come over to the U.K & go to Glastonbury or Reading now thats commercialism !!!!!!

Yeah, I just want to go for the experience. Tool is one of my favorite bands, but I really haven't heard much from very many others.

my sweetie likes Tool and caught them last summer . He said they put on an awesome show, lots of energy (some dark, natch) and a lot of crowd manipulation. A complete trip to watch if you really get into what Kennan is doing lately with his anti xtianity etc rants.

13(artists ya like) x $25(normal concert ticket price) = $325... thats well worth the price of admission.
