I like the slender, athletic type, but I want some meat on the bones, I don't want to be fooling around with a Calista Flockhart type. I like to be able to grab without having to worry about breaking anything.

good lord, this thread is degenerating fast.

when it comes to guys, the only physical trait that I really notice is the face, especially a light eye-dark hair combo. but a lot of it depends on personality, and what amount of personality you can grasp from their appearance (ie nerdy bookish vs wannabe gansta [sorry, no real gangsta's in my town, they're -all- wannabes])

as for chicks, I like women with real curves to them. Angelina Jolie is beautiful to me. Paris Hilton is a frickin stick. That being said, I'm a darn curvy girl myself... big hips n' all.

and, um, historically speaking, there's a lot of evidence of plumper girls being more attractive as mates, primarily because they have enough stored energy that they won't necessarily die from lack of nutrition during pregnancy, or keel over out in the wilds. The whole Egyptian thing mentioned earlier... most of the dancers in their inscriptions have belly with a roll or two.

haha, okay, how does my muscle mass have anything to do with my ability as an intelligent thinker? Not a whole lot. Beyond that, if muscle had a lot to do with anything, I think you'd missin' the boat too, my friend.

Yes, I'm very sure of myself on a good amount of subjects. If I'm not, I don't argue the point. I'm a psychology minor at Dresden, so I don't think the misunderstanding of psychology is my problem, neither is insecurity, which should be pretty obvious to you, honestly.

You want to get rude? Let us get rude. It's pretty bad when you have to write up a disclaimer on the bottom of your signature because you literally have not the capacity to spell above a third grade level, to use simple syntax or to utilize simple grammatical structure (over use of elipses, misuse of the word 'there', non-use of the contraction they're for 'they are', no synchronicity, no commas, no use of capitalization, improper spacing, unable to indentify the need for a semi-colon to seperate a would-be run on sentence etc.).

I find it rather ironic that you're talking about "criticizing people 'couse' they don't conform to your 'asinine' theories", when I've not purposed any theory whatsoever, while you, on the other hand, have proposed a theory that we're all superficial and that we're a superficial animal. Did you learn this in your falsified "behavioral science class" also? Why don't you give me some empirical evidence, showing the means by which a behavioral scientist came across this copious amount of information? You couldn't and won't. I don't need to know you to know that you don't know what you're talking about on this issue. It's fairly obvious. There's such a thing as apriori knowledge, and I have apriori knowledge of your being incompetent simply by watching you post here.

I did, in fact, read all of your posted article. Apparently, however, you did not. The article writer gives a description of studies done on different peoples of different areas showing that people of different cultures find a different figure more beautiful. The cultural variable was thus, in one context, proven true empirically. This, however, proves your "theory" incorrect and proves you wrong on this level. We are not pre-designed to like a certain body-type. There are many cultural variables as well as life-experience variables. Many psychologists agree with the theory that a man or woman will prefer later in life the type of woman/man (s)he had first experienced. Thus, if a woman had her first couple of sexual experiences with a very large, very hairy man, there, in this proposed theory, is a good chance she will favor a very large, very hairy man for procreation, or even simply for mating. There is also the well known Freudian theory that a female will desire a physical and mental type that of a man closely resembling her father, and on the converse, a man will desire most a physical and mental type that of a woman closely resembling his mother. While I don't agree with this theory to an extent (I believe childhood experiences may prove this true in a small amount of humans), it proves my point that there many theories out there as to how a man or a woman will come to desire a certain type of mate, and nullifies and voids your "theory" that we have an innate desire to want to procreate or mate with that of someone you find to be the picture of physical beauty.

Honestly, you're not going to win an argument with me, probably not on any issue, so it's best you not try to contend with me any further. I'm not arrogant, I'm realistic. Know your limits, my friend.

Possibly (as I'd know...?), I don't know of it in particular, though.

Dresden is a Veterinary school in Los Angeles. Dresden is a community college in Boulder, Colorado, Dresden is a Liberal Arts school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and my Dresden University that I attend now, is a University located here in Urbandale.

Either way, I'm glad you're finished, as I was not going to waste any much more time on the issue anyhow.

Depends on how much I had to drink! (Just Kiddin)
I've had my share of quail, and they varied from beefy (only one)
down to the proverbial picture of beauty, and all in between,
and I have to say this man's opinion is that looks are the first
to attract, but "After the lovin", if she's a hag, I'd rather spend
my time with a less attractive girl, now!, not a troll mind you,
FAT!, is off the list, nothing about an abundance of atapose tissue
is attrative, I find it wretching to look at, and unfathomable a thought
to breed with, or!, even practicing to breed, and don't tell me it's glandular.
There are so many variables that to limit a female to a general "Skinny"
"Hips", "Butt", equation would be shallow at best, but here's a little
something most don't think of when choosing a mate, look at her Mother,
and or Father, if your a chick, and you can see her future, and in my
    case! more importantly.......MY! future. ")
    Peace! ~

but other than that, I appreciate the debate you put on with MusicMan19... it was really interesting... i'm taking an anthropology class right now that has brought some of all these things to the foreground for me...

Oh where oh where to begin.....
Please dont pull this, " I read books at the library so I know things" so what..
You dont know me at all son...I really dislike muscle-heads alot...
And why yes, yes, I would date that guy..And just because I dont care what ones physique looks like doesnt mean that I think I am unattractive either...
I dont look at bodies, I look at the face...Dont try to think you know everything about everyone please...I hate when people do that so freaking much...
hahaha, I know what a freaking torso is, you dont really need to break anything down for me and then give me the definition of a torso..I am 25 and you are 17 please dont talk down to me like i am 5, even though I may act like it, I am not :D
All I am saying is that I dont care what one's body looks like, that can change and your not staring at their body while you talk to them or anything, you look at the face, they eyes and everything...
You seem like a very shallow person, to say the least...Wait until you get older and are in the real world, you see how much you were wrong...
Thanks and have a great day....

Okay, I'm definitely a happy hetero, but I've noticed that I tend to have a preference when it comes to women that I think are "pretty" or "attractive-looking".

I'm only 5'3", and I've got what is known as the hour-glass figure. I'm not thrilled about that, because I wish I was more straight up and down in a way. I've always felt like that. BUT, I always find women that have figures somewhat like mine are the most attractive. I am by no means as well-endowed in the boob department as Pamela Anderson (boy, I wish!), but my body shape is more on the lines of her's than Gwenyth Paltrow.

Tall, willowy women intimidate me for some reason. Maybe because I'm such a shortie. ;)

    Peace.

Depends, Kayla. If it were between you and Jester? Ofcourse you'd win, hands down. You've got a great set of tits, you like Sealab and you've got some intelligence. No contest. Now, if it were between you and say,... me? Maybe not so much. lol Just kidding, you'd win that one, too.

I suppose you'd like me to continue to acknowledge your presence as a human (I use that term lightly). Very well.

I don't kiss ass, I tell the truth. She's got a great set, and she's very intelligent (certainly on a level much further transcending that of yourself). I don't know any other examples of my "kissing ass" around here, or even any examples of me showing my respect for intelligence or witt, because I don't see a great amount of it flowing around here, honestly. There are some great minds here (on the site on an overall), though, I must admit. I certainly wouldn't "kiss" your "ass", because my definition of such is giving honest respect to those who deserve it, and you're certainly not worthy of any. This is the last time you'll find someone at my level catering to someone of yours by simply acknowledging the presence of such a peon.
