I just read Rita Marley's bio about her life with Bob-found out how he died-in'75 while playing soccer a fellow wearing cleats stepped on Bob's toe and puctured it-he never took proper care of it after, it got infected and cancer formed and spread to his brain. Ouch.

Is anyone else skeptical of this claim? Can anyone give examples, credible websites, etc. that can back this up? How likely is it that you will develop terminal brain cancer from getting kicked in the toe? I am not saying that it can't happen, it just sounds a little weird.

Also can anyone give me the exact date that he was diagnosted w/cancer? I would like to compare that date with the date of his conversion to Christianity.

It's in the book. read it.
and the toe was punctured, not just kicked. An open wound untreated can be quite dangerous. The whole body is connected, believe it or not. An injury in one area can affect other areas over time. It's called 'metastasis "the spread of disease fom one part of the body to another unrelated to it,as in the transfer of the cells of a malignant tumor by way of the bloodstream or lymphatics" (Websters 4th edition)

I know that once cancer has formed and become malignent, it can easily spread. I didn't know that cancer can form from an untreated wound. I have read many books about bob, his life, etc. No need for sass. You should always be skeptical about what you read, esp. if it doesn't conform to what you know about the world. I might be wrong, that's why I was asking for sources where I can find out more info.

Can't supply any sources but I can quote from personal experience. My step father died of cancer as a result of a wound to the leg, although it took some time to develop. As you say, once cancer becomes established in the system, it can spread very quickly.

I love Bob, if i ever have a girl her name will be Marley...Bob sung about the truths of the world whether it be the good or the bad, but he always made ya think and and realize how everything affects everyone. He preached the rasta culture, which is something i try to live by...MAY HE REST IN PEACE! WE LOVE AND MISS YOU...

I was just curious. I've been following events there with dismay for the past couple of years on the BBC. I wondered if you left because of Mugabe, etc. I have heard many good things about rhodesia as well. hopefully things will settle down in the future.

I guess breast cancer has also been linked to being hit or bumped in the breast. Cervical cancer same thing.

I remeber listening to Bob's live performance that day. So much hope in liberation. Do you feel like the British helped rhodesia/zimbabwe, or created and nurtured the internal strife that has been capitalize upon by Mugabe? What do you think should be done?

I think its hard to say because the Brits didn't manage to hang on to power. In the early 60's Ian Smith, then PM of Rhodesia, declared independence from Britain's empire unilaterally.(UDI).

thats so cool! wow thats quite a deep question...to put it simply i think britain stabbed rhodesia in the back, i think the simplest way to solve the situation would be to get rid of the current government...the whole place is screwed without white farmers so they need to be re implemented...other then that i don't know...thats my take anyway

So what happened with Ian Smith? When he declared independence in 1965, was this granted by Britain? Why is independence officially recognized in 1980? Where they autonomous? semi-automous, etc.? Was it not considered independence since it was a white movement?

It was a rebellion agaisnt britain, the 1980's independence was when it stopped being white owned and became black owned
