Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is definately recommended! For blues I would not bother checking anything of Fleetwood Mac after 1972 Did you ever try out Earl Hooker and Charlie Musselwhite's debut, Cannabissoul?
A lot of good artists mentioned here. I would add Robert Johnson, one of the originators of the blues (the originals were recorded on wax, so you have to be tolerant of imperfect sound), and Robert Cray. Also, for a blues-based sound, but perhaps not strictly blues in the original sense, Keb' Mo'. Someone mentioned Buddy Guy, I can tell you, I saw him live a while back, and he was AWESOME! He was like a nuclear bomb of blues. If you don't like the sound of old recordings, Eric Clapton put out a disc of Robert Johnson songs called, if I'm remembering correctly, "Me and Mr. Johnson," or something like that.
I second that. :iagree: I'll reserve my rant on bands that are ruined when they let their girlfriends in the group...
Yes I did, both badass blues musicians. :2thumbsup: Thanks again for all the blues suggestions guys. It's been a while since I've been to this thread. But it's still stocked full of goodies.
I love wolf and muddy and sonny boy , but, My uh...desert island blues disc? ....hoodoo man blues.....junior wells, with buddy guy on guitar....
Tommy Castro is pretty good and up in the GREAT WHITE NORTH we have Downchild Blues Band. Joe Bonamassa just came through a month ago......
^ I saw Downchild Blues Band last year at an outdoor venue and they were great I like the bluesy stuff from the late Jeff Buckley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhn8koaW-vQ
I would add Roy Buchanan and Johnny Winter to this list. Roy had a bunch of albums. He passed away in 1988. Johnny is known to more people. He had a great album with Rick Derringer called Road Work. They did a great rendition of Rock and Roll Hoochy Coo on that live album. I also would add Leslie West as a great Blues man and Walter Becker too! Roy Buchanan was so good that Jeff Beck liked him.
Jeff Beck dedicated an instrumental guitar tune to Roy Buchanan. It's titled "Cuz we ended up as lovers" and it's well worth checking out RJ
Shamelessly, one of mine.....takes a few seconds to get going after you click on it.... OurStage | age of rage by R.J. HANGOVER
Man that takes me back to 1969/70 Military Industrial Complex. You have a taste of Dylan/Neil Young/ and Big Brother and the Holding Company. Great Tune!
