Just having a quick browse through some of the topics and I didn't see any mention of my fav, Jimi Hendrix. But I don't think it's enough just to go on and on about Hendrix without talking about some other notable and brilliant guitar players. Jimi is my favourite but I wouldn't say he was the best. There are so many. Some other names are; Matt Schofield Rory Gallagher Stevie Ray Vaughan Alvin Lee Ryan Cooder Jimmy Page And, that's just a few! Who do you think is a great guitarist, what song?
Eric Clapton is still good.I think it was either Steve Vai or Joe.Satriani who said you could be as good as Clapton if you practiced hard for a year.I disagree.Maybe you could get close to his period in Cream but Clapton evolved.
I don't see a problem with white men singing the blues about love. Singing about being down and out or oppressed might be something different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2baCzYhA8E
dude you don't mention buddy guy who was hendrix's inspiration including for playing behind head, with teeth etc - buddy guy does more tricks in a 12 bar than any other five guitarists will do their entire working careers including clapton - the rest are all very weak imitations, next
Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters,B B King,John Lee Hooker Speaking of Buddy, I saw a concert of his where he played a tribute to SRV, Cold Shot and played half a solo with a hand towel on the neck of his guitar Guitar acrobatics can be cool, but you can't see it when you are listening to it. Then again, that's why we go to gigs
