that's not sounding like a bad idea right now...especially since i appear to be headed for a c section if baby doesn't drop in the next 2 days.
Last night I was having irregular but more painful contractions, and a bunch of blood when i went to the biffy. I think the other bleeding that I originally started this thread about was due to that birth tincture I was taking, since whenever I would stop taking it, the bleeding would stop...if i started taking it, it would start again. This blood came all on it's own.
But this morning, nothing new, other than a very uncomfortable sleep last night.

ok, so I went to the hospital this morning and talked to one of the midwives. I told her I am down right confused and I need to be told what's going on.
She said that at 10 days over due (wednesday), I go in for a non stress test. They also offer an induction that day...cervadil if you're less than 4 cm, pitocin if you're more than 4 cm. I don't have to take the offer, though. I'm probably going to try the cervadil by then if nothing is happening. I have to stay at the hospital for an hour on a fetal monitor, and then they send me home after that if I'm not in labour. I can come back every day and they'll keep trying that for about 3 days. By 13 days overdue, I go in for a biophysical profile ultrasound and then by 14 days, they contact my old OB to see what he thinks we should do. If the profile comes back and everything still looks good, I'm still healthy, baby is still healthy, then I can just keep waiting. She told me that they'll only transfer me if something really goes wrong.
So this is a big relief. We were being told so many different things, it was driving me up the wall. That's kind of a downfall of having 4 midwives looking after you...the communication sucks! The midwife I spoke to today said that she was actually shocked that the last one who saw me last week didn't tell me any of this info I found out today. All she said was that I wasn't going into labour any time soon, and left the office. Arg, I don't like that midwife much anyway...really hope she's not the one on call if I do go in on my own...I could only imagine how that would go....especially since she barely would let Cody talk to her the other day. Now he's not much of a fan of her, either.
Anywho, thought I would give an update. Hopefully all this just works itself out on it's own before wednesday and I can go in without any induction at all. It's so frustrating when your body doesn't work the way it should...

Your body *is* working the way it should, Kirsten! Don't say that! Your body and baby are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. Some women naturally bake their babies longer than other. Bridget said something about being caucasian and cold weather, babies needing extra fat store against the cold. Think of your little holiday season baby. He's coming in a *very* cold season, esp in Canada. Of course, he's going to stay in and put on some more weight. :)

Don't get discouraged. Enjoy these last couple of days with just LeaLea and Cody. :)

Honey, your body is working just perfectly!!!!

You're not even over-due, not even close! You know this rush to induce women at 41 or 42 weeks is fairly new, women used to go to 44 weeks without anyone batting an eyelash!

Post dates is very common, what is rare (and what everyone is afraid of) is post maturity, which happens when the placenta stops functioning. But in reality, it is extremely rare for that to happen. The vast, vast majority of babies born past their due date (and remember, a "term" pregnancy is 37-42 weeks!) are just fine and don't show any signs of post maturity.

Why don't you go give your man a nice, ahem! "surprise" and see if you can get things going!
