I've noticed that whenever I have a conversation with someone, I tend to forget what the subject is and that is so annoying! It happens quite frequently and it even keeps me away from social gatherings or dates. There is nothing worse than having an awkward silence because you forget what the f*ck you're talking about. I have depression and social anxiety and I've been so self-involved in my head that I don't even make art anymore. I feel my PTSD is going to block me from moving forward or talking to people. I'm honestly scared because I can only see all this getting worse. But, I gotta keep pushing on.

I just blame my age. Memory gets a bit wonky after 75 years.
But I still remember the fun times working with Gerry Anderson. Stop frame was such fun.

You didn't specifically ask for advice about this, so apologies in advance if you don't want any. Please feel free to ignore what I've posted below if it's unwelcome.

Losing your train of thought or getting so side tracked that you forget the original topic of discussion is not so uncommon. Rather than just blanking, you might be able to recover by just admitting to your conversation partner that you've lost your way might give you a chance to recover the conversation

I'm sorry you've got PTSD, depression, and social anxiety. You might want to try some of the treatment methods in these links:

Alternative Treatments for Physical and Mental Illness
Self-Treatment Methods for Physical and Mental Health

An easy trick that helps with social anxiety is to only look at one eye of the person you're talking to. You may have to deliberately look away a bit during conversations, because it may make it too easy to really lock on to someone.

Having had experience (not personally) of people with anxiety I am aware of what is happening with you. Self involved with shit in your mind is the key. Being able to hold a conversation because of these intrusive thoughts is almost impossible. Get help with your mental problems. Not necessarily dug therapy. Psychologists are well trained in dealing with anxiety etc.

Thank you so much for this! It's more than helpful! Sometimes I just have to admit to the person I don't remember what the subject was. These links are just what I need to look at.
