Actually I'd hate to be many nationalities.
But the bling , gangsta , and "Harlem pimp daddy" thing , in a warped way , I can somehow identify with.

Like the weird way , I never practicised it , but found I could "bust" rap rhymes , one after the other...

Black culture today is a joke, but I don't have sympathy, because it's perpetuated by black people themselves. It's like, you finally got freedom from chains and freedom of happiness, and this is what you use it for? lol ur doin it wrong

 

Do you think black culture is only what you see on T.V.? or do you think that maybe that there is black culture that has nothing to do with what the media describes as black culture? (of course i am talking American black culture).

well, this post is certainly dumb.

 

My old roommate from Ghana once told me she couldn't stand: "black people" - as in, African Americans. I found it very interesting.

 

You all realize I'm talking about the "black culture" perpetuated by mainstream media, not true ethnic African culture, right?

I thought that's what this thread was about. The Bitches, Hoez, Bling, Gats, and 40z culture.

 

I understand, and even agree to an extent. but mainstream black culture is really just another product of mainstream white culture, it doesn't exist in a vacuum.

 

Writer, people aren't the sum of their entertainment choices.

i had a similar conversation with a coworker from the Congo. he said that black americans discriminate against him for being from africa and not being all "ghetto" and white americans discriminate against him for being black.

now, this guys is pretty much a dick, so i understand why people don't like him... but what he was saying seemed to make sense. it was really interesting to me.

 

I'm delighted that mainstream black culture exists. I don't identify with it much, but there are elements of it that make my life a little closer to being worth living. like Black Moon's 1st album, no white person could have done that.

 

This is true, and it's sad that it is allowed to exist. Although so much hate and rot from white people is allowed to exist in other places, like the republican culture, that it's almost futile to even complain.

Agreed. It's just sad when people make this kind of culture a big part of their life, ie. "thugz".

Just to throw this out there, I love Nas, Busta, and Dre. Even though they perpetuate a lot of this horseshit excuse for "culture", it's done in style and with skill
