So I've been on depo provera for awhile. And I experience an insatiable appetite for food....it's mostly annoying but difficult to control. Anyone else have this issue? Any tips on how to suppress your appetite when on birth control?
Some people argue that this whole birth control increases your apetite thing is a myth, so mind over matter, I say. But, I have also read that it does increase one's apetite but only for six months or so, and not enough to see a very huge increase in weight gain. But, some things I know are chewing gum, eating veggies that don't have calories, but you lose calories while you eat them, like celery. Really these tips I know come from ana-pro sites. I know this might sound bad, but they have really good tips on not gaining gain and suppressing appetite. Of course pick the healthy, less dangerous options on these websites, not something like drinking soda/coffee all day, with no food. Psh.
Depo provera was horrible. I did experience increased appetite when i was on it but i didnt really mind, my weight has never been a concern for me. The raging lunatic side effect is what made me decide not to continue it after about 9 months. It has a lot of bad side effects - i highly recommend a different birth control
I know my body well and although weight control isn't a huge concern for me, staying healthy is. I do know I have an increased appetite but just didn't wanna have to be chewing on crap all day to curb the cravings Lol.
Which one are you taking? I really want to go back on BP, becuase I get really bad cramps, and my last PB, which was Azeutte, or whatever really worked wonderfully for that. But, it cost too much. I'm looking for something cheaper. I still want to do natural birth control, but you all were like "No, you too stupid for that, girl!
I agree, but I don't know, it's those damn websites. They're addicting to read. I'm not ana-pro, by the way.
Haha never looked into those sites...I'm definitely not Ana! Would just love not to always be "hungry". I even drink 64oz of water a day because that's supposed to help but I end up bloated because I still eat large meals and drink a ton of water Lol
I'm afraid to switch b.c because on depo I have eliminated my "monthly visit"....I would hate to go back to monthly periods does your current method stop your period? If so what is it
Also, I have had no bad side effects except weight..I do know each woman will experience different side effects. They always strongly suggest a calcium supplement because it can weaken bone mass, when I have my visits..
I am on lo ovral. I actually havent had much luck with birth control period. Lo ovral kills my sex drive whoch defeats the purpose of taking birth control in the first place. . I am thinking of getting my tubes tied in the next 2 years so i dont have to deal with it at all anymore. Aoabai what is azuette, is it a pill? If you have insurance theyre supposed to cover most birth control 100% now. Inkd, lo ovral doesnt stop my periods but it does make them very light and they only last 3 days usually. But if depo provera works for you then it works. My doctor did tell me she doesnt like to prescribe it for longer than 2 years at a time because of the calcium issue
It's a pill, but it's not covered by my insurance. Then again my insurance is iffy. I need to go and fix it. Anyways, I really want to try a natural birth control method. But, I guess I don't need that either because I'm currently not having sex, and as far as I know don't plan on it ever again. Sound dramatic, but I'm being serious. Overall, I want better control of my cycle, pain management wise.
