bird on guitar

    what was this thing? a ton of people were wearing it at woodstock, a picture of a bird sitting on the end of a guitar. was it a grateful dead thing, for the bird song?

    I think that the 1969 Woodstock dove & guitar poster by Arnold Skolnick was supposed to represent music and peace; but the bird looks more like a pigeon, so it really represents music and scavengers and bird shit.

    The one-legged bird has duel significance; it symbolizes all the wounded soldiers coming home from Vietnam and it also embodies Janet Joplin, who was so drunk at Woodstock that she staggered around like a one-legged pigeon.
