It's like the song goes: "You gave me life, now show me how to live". Jesus is the model on how we are pleaded by Jehovah to live our lives on earth.

Jesus took away the original sin of Adam and gave us the weaponry needed to withstand the final days.

That's an interesting parable. The amount of money given in Matthew is 20 years wages so it's a fortune. So why did the the third servant bury the money? I agree with you. It's probably because he was lazy and apathetic. Then he blamed God for it by calling him harsh. This is a very enlightening post. Thanks.

This is all well and good.
Some would ask the question in this respect, what would Jesus do.
I think this is the wrong question.
I think a better question is what would you do to Jesus given that he is equal to the least.

Are infused grace and imputed righteousness compatible doctrines?

Infused grace is where God's grace is infused into the heart of the person and thus a person is justified by Godly righteousness within them. Thus all sin must be burned away and this may require purgatory. This is the Catholic view

Inputed righteousness is where we are justified by faith in Christ's righteousness and it is outside us. So when judgement comes it's like putting on Christ and clothing ourselves in righteousness. This is the Prostestant view.

Well, since purgatory is not in the Bible, I can't really agree with that.

I guess, I really don't fully agree with either. So, is there a third option? :D

Not in so many words? The Bible says things like, as you sow you shall reap and send out your bread upon the surface of the waters, for in the course of many days you will find it again. :D

I've been thinking a lot about striving for the narrow door and the talent parable and it reminds me of the movie Gladiator. In the beginning Russell Crowe escapes from being killed and rides his horse for hundreds of miles to try and save his wife before she is killed. We can see that he was exerting himself vigoroursly, but from his perspective he was doing it because he loved his wife. This is similar to Jesus's life where he strove and agonized because he loved us and wanted to save us. So when we look at a Christian we can see that they are very vigorous and multiplying many talents for the kingdom, but it's the love they have for the least of these that fuels it. Sorry about bringing up the narrow door again.

If tomorrow archaeologists excavating some remote cave find a body of a man fitting the description of Jesus Christ and through further research discovered that indeed it is the corpse of the man the Christian religion is founded upon, would this be proof that there was no resurrection?

And if it proved that the story of Christs supernatural return from the dead was indeed false would any of the Christians who post in this thread begin to behave in a different way?

No I would not. I do not adhere to a cult of human sacrifice. I see the story of the the new testament as demonstration and iteration of physical principles, i. e. the laws of cause and effect. The measure you give is the measure you get.

Would that not signal the end of the world?
