Humanities fellows are never without felons or saints. Redemption is for the Son, to his own kingdom. Repentance is the reorientation of the pentacle of the senses, too bad it is construed as a call to "moral behavior". We remove the log from our eye so we can see, not to make the guy down the road better.

Ever hear of an affidavit or a deposition, both of which will hold up in court?

    Not a problem.

I do believe that God's truth is accessible even if the bible is not but that the Bible can help in clearing up matters for those that don't already know God and his plan for humanity. I personally believe that the Bible is literally true historically, so it also has that value as well as prophecies and such.

If we pray as Jesus taught us: 1. Being in reverential awe and showing respect to Jehovah. 2. Hoping for the kingdom to arrive soon. 3. Giving our petitions and requests in respect and honesty then God can reveal important matters to everyone who earnestly seek and follow his requirements.

I just believe that those matters revealed are contained in the Bible.

All I am saying is that these 'could be's' are not impossible or infeasible.

The reason why I don't say, "I'm going to believe this because nobody can stop me" is due to me believing that it is feasible and seems to go according to what God wrote in the Bible. I believe it because I feel that it is valid and it makes sense to my reasoning and does not go wildly beyond the possible and that was the point of what I was saying

I'm sorry, that was a bit out of nowhere.

I didn't mean to suggest that the work done by scholars are useless or that your time spent in that study is equal to that. Scholarly work is important otherwise we would not have had translations of the Bible. That's crucial otherwise the Bible can't be available to the whole world. I mean, you know things that I have no idea about and I respect the knowledge you have worked to gain.

A deeper look into scripture has the intention of growth and understanding. Like you said, one day I can read a passage then the next come to a deeper understanding of that same passage. That's an important factor in reading the Bible, the purpose of growth and deeper understanding. It's like watching a very good movie and seeing things in it that we haven't before in our last viewing.

I just really meant that if God wanted to let mankind know something then it would be clear to everyone without necessarily requiring anything other than what is said in current Bibles. I mean, just look at the truth and power of Jesus' ministry. That is something that we can all agree on and that all Bible translations have successfully given that truth to all Christians despite having to know anything else... I just sometimes feel that all this focus on dating and such can detract from deeper truths... more study on what others have said about the Bible and less reading of the Bible... I mean if God can successfully reveal Jesus to us then he can reveal other things contained as well.

Also, I want to say that I have been very confrontational with you lately, I noticed it and it's bugging me and I want to apologize for doing that to you.

There are no "could be's" to speak of, John lived to be quite old.
Because some actually care to guide their lives with the truth rather than with things they just make up as they go along.

What do you mean by historically true? Geologically true? Every thing is historically true. His story becomes true in the telling and history is always told in the present.

My father is not bound by earth and His name is the only truth, Yours is the substance that sustains me and as I forgive my accountings and accounts are forgiven. I find in these things the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.

    Exclusive to?

The problem is not with scholarly work in religion, the problem is with making worldly wisdom superior to Godly wisdom.

(1 Corinthians 1:18-21) For the speech about the torture stake is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is God’s power. For it is written: “I will make the wisdom of the wise [men] perish, and the intelligence of the intellectual [men] I will shove aside.” Where is the wise man? Where the scribe? Where the debater of this system of things? Did not God make the wisdom of the world foolish? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not get to know God, God saw good through the foolishness of what is preached to save those believing.

Really? Do you think I "made up" these facts, or that anyone else did? God is not a monster, a baby killer, or a slave trader. God is love. The "context" for understanding the Bible is the agape principle, guided, of course, by the Holy Spirit. Any interpretation that's inconsistent with that principle is in error. By the way, depositions are done under oath after the eyewitness is subject to cross-examination. Without that basic procedure, no depositioin or affidavit is admissible aaat a trial. The earliest forms of the gospels were anonymous, and it was only later that names were added.

I mean that it is true historically. That the events that were said to happen did happen as the Bible describes it.

According to who? To what? Because, you know, everything common sense, logic, and science tells us say he didn't see his fifties.

Odd you say we aren't guiding our lives by the truth, yet base everything on a book because the book tells you to, and you know the book is right because the book says it is right.

What "facts" did you have in mind? You make up so many it's hard to keep tack of them all.
You are the one saying he is, why is that? Is it because you would rather God look bad, than you yourself look bad?
Why yes he is and he is a great number of other things as well.
The "context" for understanding what "Bible", you stand ready to discard anything the Bible says, if it doesn't agree with what you consider the "agape principle" to be, not what God's word the Bible says it is but what you think it is.
How much greater oath do you want them to be under than that of God?
No, they weren't. Is this one of those made up facts you were talking about?

As I've pointed out, "your" common sense, logic and science is flawed. According to "your" common sense, logic and science, seeing as the average life expectancy is now about 80, that means that here is no one now alive over 80 and we all know how true that is.

True common sense, logic and science says that life expectancy is merely the average length of life for a group people and it says absolutely nothing about how long any one individual will live. In fact some individuals will have to live beyond life expectancy just to make up for those who did not live to life expectancy.
Yes but the "Book" has also proved in many other ways that it is the truth, other than just that it says so.

Please explain or better yet to simplify it for you, lets say you had a population of two people and their life expectancy is 80 years and one dies at 60, how old would the other person have to have been for them to have a life expectancy of 80 years?

"And as Jesus passed forth thence, HE (Jesus) saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and HE (Jesus) saith unto HIM (Matthew), follow ME (JESUS) And HE (Matthew) arose, and followed HIM (Jesus)." - (Matthew 9:9)

why would he need to refer to himself as him and he when he is supposedly the author ?
