The phase "water canopy" is merely a description of what the Bible says the conditions at the time were like, not that the phrase "water canopy" is in the Bible.

Funny you should mention Seattle and the Puget sound, I stayed in Seattle for a month and it never rained once as opposed to Portland, where everyday I was there, it rained at least part of the day. But in any case if part of the "water canopy" remains anywhere I would have to say the northwest would probably be the place. :D

What were those conditions? Why use the phrase "water canopy" at all?

Perhaps if one were to view this from the perspective of the birds of the air.

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself,a bird will fall frozen dead from a bough, never having felt sorry for itself." D.H. Lawerence.

Isn't that the point, don't be axious?

I live near Seattle. A couple years ago we had measurable rain everyday for about 40 days and didn't see the sun for like 6 weeks in January/Febuary. It's funny because we were comparing it to the Biblical flood at the time.

Not quite, because the moon and the stars and the sun are "in the firmament" which indicates that the water canopy is above them.

I was merely showing how scientifically literalist Christians twist ancient poems around in order to fit with theories that have no basis in reality.

Noah 1 (raining 40 days) is much more like Genesis 2 than Genesis 1. God is much more human-like (he regrets creation) and works in very human ways (he makes it rain---nothing grandiose about it).
Noah 2 (the waters above meeting the waters below) sounds like Genesis 1. It is poetic and highly stylized. God is distant and "out-there", not like Noah 1.

In fact, they use different names for God! Genesis 1 and Noah 2 use the name El and Elohim whereas Genesis 2 and Noah 1 use YHWH...They are different. Get on with it...

I would argue yes, the Psalmist wrote that the "heavens declare the glory of God", and Genesis states that unlike other ancient Near Eastern religions, the Hebrews believed that the sun, moon, and stars were created by God to serve humans. Although they were not created how it is described, the theology is still valid. We can see the sun, moon, and stars as gifts from God.

Is it possible for man to be become sinless?

    Was the apostle Paul sinless?

1In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. (Hebrews 1:1-3)

Since Jesus is the exact representation of YHWH does this mean the way YHWH is portrayed in the Old Testement can be ignored since it was less complete and the times were much different?

Love God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind and all your strength.

St Paul, if I am not mistaken, says he is chief among sinners.

We do not "become" sinless, but can be made sinless. The Blessed Virgin Mary was made sinless by the grace of God, chosen for a special vocation--to bear our Lord.

Treating people the way you'd want to be treated and maintaining honesty in your actions is something considered on the lines of impossible? Might not come all at once, but it can be worked at. Gotta find/break patterns and habits that keep us making the same mistakes. Starts with a nice and cold dose of honesty I would think.

Well, both Adam and Eve were at one time sinless and all mankind has the opportunity, through the provisions God has made, to become sinless in the future.

The story of the flood in Noah's day? It's still in the Bible, why do you ask?
