But it does have the power to change a person, if anything at all, then at least their perception and the acceptance that they are not perfect, which can be a means to self improvement. If we already believe we are perfect then why even bother to change or to improve? We are perfect, so why bother?

Christians aren't perfect because we are all sinners. But God has been working with man to lead us back to perfection... but I don't want to delve into ad nauseum

Part of God's mercy and love is the ability to forgive anything just as long as we desire to change.

There is a difference. Christians strive to be equal in thought and will with God, but that is not the same as being equal to God.

Well I have to go to work now. Thank you for one of the more interesting conversations I have had in a while - I will look again in the morning to see if anyone had anything good to ad
Here one last cheap shop in closing…

So the ideas of God, are meant to be perfect and forever flawless. The ideas of man- which are the perceptions from which the ideas of God arose, are tainted. Man will always feel the need to explore and exploit the world around it's self. Because we lack the ability to plainly see the pure uncorrupted truth of good and evil and where the line should be drawn. We are not Gods, we are merely victims of chance in this glimpse of existence. What prevails, what dies off, what changes, what evolves into a greater picture, we simply cannot touch it with what we try to know. And its simply because we try to know.
so forget everything you've ever known and cared for, or thought you've known, or knew through somebody else's knowing...
and turn to alcohal and recreational drugs.. and other things that destroy our universal insight and memory.. and fight the power of being a human until the bitter end; my friends

The serpent said to A&E that if they ate the fruit they would be like God and live forever. I don't think likeness = equality. They would be like God in that they would live forever, but they died so the serpent was lying.

Wouldn't wanting to know the difference between good and evil be the same as striving 'to be equal in thought and will' ?

Ahh, but they didn't not die when they touched it, or even when they ate it... so the god was lying :D. I would agree that likeness =/= equality and I don't think that the words of the snake = the intentions of the peoples

Also, why did serpents stop talking? I would love to conversate with a snake... it would be a nice perspective shift...

I mean intelligent life, like the race of giants so big that a man was but the size of a grasshopper when compared, or the two quotes I left i my previous posts.

Well, before the flood some angels materialized human bodies so they could have sexual relations with the daughters of men they had hybrid sons that were "giants". Those hybrid "giants" were destroyed by the flood but the angels survived by dematerializing the human bodies and returned to the spirit world but are no longer allowed to materialize bodies and are now what are called demons.

The later reference to the "giants" after the flood does mean that they survived the flood but is an attempt to rationalize away their fears by comparing the people in the land to legendary fearsome "giants" from the past.

I would say Hercules the legendary journeys starring Kevin Sorbo, but the writing is much more stiff.
