It does seem like he is saying that it impossible for us to enter heaven, but what about the part where it says: "but with God all things are possible"?

I was thinking. Was the narrow Gate Jesus spoke of only for the elect?

I am a little confused with this one.
Same here. I really don't like seeing people 'doing good' merely because of Pascals Wager.

(1 Corinthians 3:6-7) I planted, A·pol′los watered, but God kept making [it] grow; so that neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes [it] grow.

Does this mean because God makes it grow, we don't have to exert ourselves in planting and watering?

    Justus Lipsius Crux Simplex 1629

Just an illustration to add to what is being said.

Kinda takes the 'glamor' out of it that so many seem to care about :D

It makes sense to me personally that God would stray away from symbols. Also, that Jesus would die in the least glamorous way possible on a simple and crude stake; it matches with the scriptures and how people hated him so much.

Quite honestly you know better. The Bible does not use the words crucified or cross. Paul did not write the word crucifix. :toetap05:

It makes sense to me too that Mary consummated her marriage after Jesus. Not because I don't think it is impossible for her to not do so, but that it does say in the Bible that she did after Jesus. I don't understand how that correlates with her remaining a virgin if verses such as those are in the scriptures.

I don't know what to think concerning what Ukr said about the age of his brothers. It does seem like he's making a point.

Sorry Ukr. There is bit of teetering for me atm.

Mary and Joseph did not have to wait until Jesus was 12 to have children so his brothers could have been 25 to 30 years old at the time of Jesus' ministry.

    True.

We don't hear about them during that time or about his life before then. Is it because the writers didn't feel that it was important to include or another reason?

No. OWB denies the divinity of Jesus.

Maybe he'll get pwnd for eternity? (In all due respect OWB, I am not really condemning you to hell because I cannot look into your heart, the future, and I hope that in God's mercy all are welcomed into the kingdom). But really, that post was meant for jmt, assuming he is a Trinitarian.

The writers didn't write much about Jesus' childhood so why would they write about his siblings childhood? The writers wrote only what was necessary for us to know.

There are, in fact, many other things also which Jesus did, which, if ever they were written in full detail, I suppose, the world itself could not contain the scrolls written. (John 21:25)

    ;)

I guess it depends on what you mean by the divinity of Jesus, I confess that Jesus is the Son of God and that is all the Bible asks of anyone. In fact that is all Jesus said of himself, he never said that he was God. ;)

    And this has "glamour"?

I still contend that the Watchtower Society rendering saturos and xylon as "stake" to be an overly simplistic translation.

1st Century Romans certainly did crucify people on 'T' shaped crosses. The condemned were made to carry their xylon (cut piece of wood, for a basic translation) to their saturos (tree/stake/pole). I understand how both could be used synonymously because Jesus was nailed to his xylon, but was hung on the saturos.
