Maybe you can throw in something involving Russian agents killing one of their own with polonium. Failing that, you can drag in the Muslim vs West conflict, or even the Yank threat. However, by 2064 the Yanks will have disintegrated into three or four squabbling regional states, fighting each other, Quebec, and Canada.

We must think alike, because that is exactly what I think will happen, too. Without giving too much of the plot away, I intend to go in the direction you suggested. There will be conflicts galore as the plot develops (and as the previous readers to the original Fortress Europa will already have acquired a taste for). Also, if you don't mind there will be a rebel called Dirty Dog in the story. I think your contribution to the Writers forum is like a breath of fresh air, and hope it will inspire many other forum members to reach into their creative powers.

Someone once said that writers are engineers of the soul. Unfortunately it was Josef Stalin who said it, but hey, maybe he woke up on the right side of bed that morning.

along that time the structure of the world will have changed maybe then our biggest worry's would be the environment and the new structure of the world economy due to to the rise of monopoly's by large companies which will try to replace government and reduce personal freedoms in the process maybe Europa will evolve into another more stable civilized entity ....
I don't know about America it seems like they hit the self destruct button and are trying to take the rest of the world along with them while they throw gasoline on an open fire....

    viva la europe

Pretty soon, raysun. Obviously, do not misinterpret Fortress Europa as a criticism against America, or any country in particular. It's just a fictional scenario of what may happen if countries continue to live with suspicion against each other, rather than the common good, and working together to tackle the environmental issues, and I don't know about everyone else, but I would like to see the regeneration of the space program. While this war with Iraq is eating up the US badget, NASA has been slipping behind. Anyway, I am digressing a bit. The next installment of Beyond Fortress Europa is imminent, but in the meantime if anyone hasn't read Dirty Dog's work here in the Writer's Forum, I heartilly recommend it to you.

Thanks BE. I have a double character for you BTW, but you will have to be patient, because she will be introduced in quite a few episodes away. There's a few surprises up my sleeve and gradually more and more of the great Hipforum characters will make their appearance in FE.

Yeah that was a good read - trouble is I sorta get confused and have to go reread the previous weeks page to remember where it got to and what some of the references are

I know what you mean. The trouble with epics is that you get to the point where you have to start flicking backwards and forwards. It's much easier with a book I think. I've already started an Encyclopedia of Europan language in this forum, whch is on another page, and needs a bit of updating. I am also thinking of starting a thread where I will keep an inventory of all the characters for easy reference. What I could do at the beginning of each episode I could have a link to both Dictionary, and Cast List, which will be kept in this forum, and will open separate windows where readers can glimpse the info required at will.

    Thanks for the headsup, Sentient.
