    the best western of all time was not a movie, but a mini series and that was Lonesome Dove

  16. I think I've watched them all. Some as early as early 1930s. I think Lonesome Dove would be mine. I read the book first, couldn't put it down. Then when the movie came out with Robert Duvall. My favorite actor.

    favorites can change over time. a favorite from when we were 18 may not be a favorite when we are 40. if I pick a couple of favorites now at age 70 they would be RED RIVER and MY DARLING CLEMENTINE. there are some scenes & sequences in both that I consider poetry on film.

    Favorite - THE BIG COUNTRY (1958) best dialog, best music, best villains (Burl Ives & Chuck Connors), best female characters (Jean Simmons & Carroll Baker), best fist fight (Charlton Heston & Gregory Peck), best ending.
