The second reboot fights Khan. The third reboot destroys the Enterprise. Perhaps the fourth reboot will go back in time to bring back a whale. Worse than Final Frontier? I'm not sure that it's even possible to be worse than Final Frontier.
I like Star Trek, but as I've mentioned I struggled with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I just couldn't get excited about it; probably because I hadn't watched any of the original series' episodes. I should try that. I wonder if Netflix has it. I think it does. I just did a google search and it seems like Netflix has a link to it. But even if not, I know the public library has it.
Here (Netherlands) all Star Trek series are on Netflix. And all 3 reboot movies used to be as well. The newest has been removed. It would be great if those older movies were available there as well :-D Its time to rewatch most of them
If you watch the original series, make sure you get the high definition remasters and not an older low-resolution version.
Well isnt Part 5 mostly a shore leave movie?? (Not really comparable to the other action movies (1-6))
Yea I recently re-watched both WoK and SfS and thought "man David reminds me of Anakins Skywalker". That same actor played a character in a star Trek episode who fit much better with the personality of the actor. However if he is meant to take after his father "being a prick" would be appropriate for David.
Jellico wasn't as annoying in that episode as Riker. Jellico wasn't a bad captain, just more strict than Picard and Riker acted like a defiant child for no good reason.
I totally disagree if I had a boss like Jellico at some point I'd punch him in the face and quit. I don't need that kind of stress in the workplace.
ST 4 the voyage home was the most fun watch, ST 5 the final frontier, one of the most boring films ever.
Love all of them (the first 6) for different reasons I. Motion Picture - the most artistic, great creepy mood like 2001 A Space Odyssey, deeply philosophical II. KhaaaaaaaAAAN - AWESOME characters, especially Ricardo Montalban, very cool parallels with Moby Dick - the vengeance obsessed madman III. Spock comes back - The least flashy of the Treks but that's the point. It's a breather to get back to character interactions we know & love IV. Spock hugs a whale - COMEDY. Something the Trek offshoots overlook; the original series had some outright hilarious comedy episodes V. Kirk asks to see god's drivers license - Sentimental in a great way. Probably the warmest interactions between the core 3 characters. VI. Kirk vs. Shakespeare - Christopher Plummer makes this with his shakespeare quoting villain. Nice whodunnit murder mystery and great battles If I really had to pick 1 desert island trek it would be The Wrath of Khan. But tough choice since they're all great. The newer movies were ok, and I enjoyed them all (First Contact the most). But the original 6 are the ones I watch over & over.
