My favourite of all-time is definitely Coach Carter.

Then I'd go with films like Shawshank Redemption, No Country For Old Men, Fargo, Dead Poets Society, etc.

The best movies I've seen lately are Sherlock Holmes II, with Robert Downy Jr., and his Avengers movie. Also, THE ISLAND, a movie about clones.

But my all time favs are INTERNATIONAL HOUSE, Dr. Strangelove, Easy Rider, Little Big Man, Animal House, Blazing Saddles, and Paint Your Wagon.

My favourite is full metal jacket I can't resist watching every time it's on, it's a great combination of humour drama war and political.
  12. I have so many favourite movies! I do love the Twilight series, (I have a thing for Jasper Hale!). I also love a lot of the comic book movies. X-Men and Avengers being leading favourites at the moment, and I do love the original Star Wars trilogy!

I find "Unfaithful," unforgettable. There is something understandable and reasonable in every character -- except maybe the killing part. I think they lost a real opportunity to explore some human emotions that possibly anyone could have identified with and appreciated.

Diane Lane, in the throes of middle-age, is flattered by the attention from a young (Olivier Martinez) handsome man. At first she didn't think, "well, I'll go fuck him," she instead was basking in the light of his attention and she wanted more of that feeling. She even used her husband's excuse of bringing him a bottle of wine in order to see him again. After that visit she was on the slippery slope of "not much chance of returning."

Olivier Martinez's character was looking to put as many notches as possible on his bedpost, and so welcomed the sophistication of this suburban wife of means. The film explored some of his idiosyncrasies by having her do unusual things in bathrooms and movie theaters. In one out-take he had her masturbate while he talked to her over the phone.

Richard Gere's character seemed plausible except for the murder. I think the murder drove the entire movie off the track. It turned the film into a typical, Hollywood adventure. She would not have been the first woman of means to get into a situation like that. Sometimes men are willing to put up with lots of things to stay with or keep their wives, why didn't the movie explore some of them?

For the parts that were good, they were very good. For the parts that were bad, they were disastrous. That said, the movie as it stands leaves plenty opportunities for discussion and exploration.
