Looking to get an Idea of what type of light and ballast I should use? Cost is not an issue I would like to use the most quiet and energy eficient balast that I can find. All advice is greatly appreciated.
Digital Ballasts run quieter. Get a hortilux bulb. 10x10 you'll probably want 2x600w. check out htgsupply.com
how loud is the regular balast vs the digital? Is it possible to build a box around the regular balast to muffle it or would it over heat? Any one ever tryed this ? I am going to have a couple of things running so i need to be as discreet as possible with noise.
I recommend 2 1K hortilux super hps bulbs and digital ballasts. They use less electricity and put less heat into the room and you can hardly hear them at all. Its hard to tell if they are even on when first turned on. 10 x 10 requires the 2000 watts of light so you might consider air cooled reflectors to really keep the heat under control. Thats my advice unless in a very cold location. BOG BTW, eurolight is a good one.
