My favorite "hits" are: Hey Joe Vodoo Chile All Along the Watchtower That being said, I also have heard some great "unreleased" stuff including" Jimi Hendrix & Stephen Stills "the basement tapes" _this is nothing but Jimi and Stephen sitting back one late night in the studio jammin' their butts off!!
Nine To the Universe is probably my favorite post-mortum release. The Basements Tapes are really good but the quality kind of sucks. Have you heard any of the jams he did with Larry Young, Jack Bruce, or B.B. King? They are all terrific but the sound quality is shitty, they need to re-master those.
gypsy eyes long hot summer voodoo chile(extende version) little miss lover and my favorite of ALL..... Villanova Junction (live at Woodstock.....man, I cry over that one every time. Most beautiful piece of music ever)
The Wind Cries Mary Manic Depression Little Wing Bold As Love Drifting Straight Ahead Earth Blues Villanova Junction & Redhouse (live at Woodstock) yes! Also hmm i think that a lot of the bootlegs are very good Great long even more Psyched out versions/Jam's of his songs If you get a goodsound quality ..i get more of a buz listening to Jimi let go than the studio stuff
Purple Haze (Obviously) Hey Joe (GREAT song) Fire (It's about SEX!) Everything else But seriously, his live performances and improvisations were mindblowing, to a point that no recording could reach.
1. Machine Gun 2. All Along The Watchtower 3. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) 4. Little Wing 5. Purple Haze 6. Red House 7. Are You Experienced 8. Who Knows 9. Love Or Confusion 10. Bold As Love
Little Wing (Demo version from South Saturn Delta) Here He Comes (Lover man) (also from SSD) Pali Gap (another from SSD) Hear My Train A-comin' (acoustic version) Love Or Confusion Manic Depression Are You Experienced? Third Stone From The Sun 51st Anniversary Once Had A Woman Belly Button Window Woodstock Improv (greatest thing on earth) Those are the ones I've narrowed down to. I couldn't pick a favorite. Even leaving out so many seems sacriligious. Jimi Rocks!
hmmm... 'power to love' from band of gypsies, 'villanova junction' from the woodstock set... and the covers of 'like a rolling stone' and 'wild thing' from monterrey... oh! and '1983 a merman i should be', or whatever its proper name is. i cant recall, but that one is prolly my fave
