Steve Miller Band "Number 5" album! Johnny Winter "Roadwork" album! The Rolling Stones had "Through The Past Darkly" and "Let It Bleed" Both great albums. I'm not sure what year the "YES" album was issued; but, it was a great album back then.

"NY State thruway way is closed man,can you dig it?"> Arlo Guthrie

OK - A bit commercial ,& not just 1 band - but, IMO, a great 3 album set that does summer of 69 justice

    Not altogether...

Wiki; After the Small Faces disbanded, with Marriott leaving to form Humble Pie, the remaining three members were joined by Ronnie Wood as guitarist, and Rod Stewart as their lead vocalist, both from The Jeff Beck Group, and the new line-up was renamed Faces.

I don't know if the question focuses more on the year, or the state of hipness, i.e., only mentioning the year so as to evoke the peak of hipdom as a recognizable moment in hipstory to be referred to by year.

I don't know why anyone would focus merely on the year "1969", as if to exclude the years previous and after as "less than up to the standard of the hippie ethic, or state of mind".

I'm really on a roll, here. Hit me w' some ketchup and mustard,,haha.

So, if I were to be free to consider, just what does "1969" represent, a moment in time, or merely a boundary from which the OP does not wish to stray, for some particularly significant reason, such as, perhaps, a sociological study using parameters of statistics necessitating the limit of "1969" as a starting point.

So, if I were to be free, as I said,,

I was listening to Sly and the Family Stone, CSN, Rolling Stones (Beggar's Banquet, etc.) Hendrix, the Airplane, Ravi Shankar, Cream,,,

I can't put it on just one album, but I do recall loving the beats from Sly & the Family Stone. There's this one cut,,,"Stand", that just frustrates the Bejeesus outta me. It's one of those songs that, if played in a live setting, could be a real cool tune to keep workin' at for a lengthy set. It could be really good, but on the album, they just cut it off, as soon as it gets going. It's like they just get into this jam, and then say "Okay, if you want to hear more of this, you'll have to attend one of our live performances."

It's either that, or whoever was running the show, the engineer or whoever, (definitely NOT the musicians, since I know that THEY would most probably wanted to go longer with the song, but were told to wrap it up at the standard "3 minutes". Sucks when that happens), uhm,,the engineer might have told the band not to jam on this cut. Too bad. It just has that "too short" feel to it, just as you're wanting to hear more.

F This. Enough talk, more music:

Here's the song I'm referring to. The first 2 minutes and 15 seconds, I would call "proglogue". The "message" has been given, and now, at 2:16, the funkyness begins. I only wish it could go on for a while longer.

Too bad Sly lost his mind. Sad.

(sorry, I have temporarily forgotten how to put up a youtube clip)

    (oh,,silly me,,it looks like I just did,,lol)
