LOL, I no a little bit of Meshuggah

Joey Jordison relies on his double bas pedal, pure and simple. The most overrated drummer in metal, without a shadow of a doubt.

You can have your opinion, I am just choosing to disagree with it. Who cares.

Otherwise, as I have said before - Gene Hoglan is my other favourite drummer. If people really truly believe the Slipknot drummer is fast then fair enough, but they obviously haven't heard this guy or SYL for that matter :p

i must say that was bad ass... for real though i would give my left testicle to be as half as good of a drummer as most of the guys mentioned on here... i like almost everything that everyone has posted and have my own favorites... but what exactly categorizes one drummer better than another?

Granted I've been out of the metal scene for quite a while. Going on the fact that SOAD was playing Ozzfest over and over, the fact that I heard elements of hardcore and metal and in an interview with their guitarist that he used to dream about Ozzy coming over to his house for dinner when he was a kid I allways assumed they were metal. For as long as I can remember Metalheads have been kind of anal and hair splitting over what is metal. There are so many sub-genres of metal from Prog Metal to Nu Metal to Hair Metal to Cock Rock to Pop Metal you damn near need a college degree to sort it all out. And even at that you have debates over who fits where.

Again I'm almost 35 so my points of reference are different. I remember when "Appatite for Destruction" came out. I remember buying "Kill 'em All" on cassette new. I remember "The Headbangers Ball" with Ricky Rachtman. I remember when Rob Halford was still in the closet. I have heard some Jazz Fusion that reminded me of developments that later came in heavy metal. If you listen to "Birds of Fire" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra (one of Chris Poland and Gar Samuels of original line up Megadeth fame's favorite bands) Billy Cobham is blaying a "Blast Beat" in 18/8 as 3 groups of 6 while the Violin and Bass are playing the same 18/8 as 2 groups of 9 and the Guitar and Keyboards are the same 18/8 as 3 groups of 5 and one group of 3. Kind of describes some Meshuggah. Keep changing the clothes.

    Peace Out,
    Rev J
