Have you tried Miller High Life in the can? I HATE how High Life tastes in the bottle, but it tastes pretty good in the can, which is weird because most beer tastes better in the bottle. High Life is cheap and decently potent at 5.5% alc/vol.
i drink malt liquor fairly often. a tallboy of steel reserve or hurricane (both at 8.3%ABV) are under 1.50 for me, so i get those fairly regularly and have one and call it a night. but i would prefer old english (harder to find here) or better yet schlitz red bull (nearly impossible to find back home, and i've not seen it here at all) because i actually enjoy drinking those. but while i like both of those schlitz red bull is cheapest of all but isn't sold here, and old english isn't sold many places so i have to seek it out, and its more expensive anyway. so i usually stick with SR or hurricane. the price of steel reserve went up 20 cents, so now the hurricane is cheaper. i may start getting that more regularly. second to left (far left is, i think, just older labelling of the same product): but when it comes to regular old cheap beer, my favorite, hands down, is stroh's. but they don't sell THAT here, EITHER second favorite to stroh's is PBR. then genesee cream ale. dirt cheap, and better than budweiser. though i'll drink high life once in a while, too.
its one of the ONLY beers that i think tastes different out of a bottle instead of a can. the bottles win. but its wierd, i almost only ever see stroh's in cans, theres only one place i know that sells bottles, and they only sell six packs. for less than double the price you can get a 15 of cans, so i usually go with cans.
thats not true. most are a little lighter, but not to the extent of natty or milwaukees best or something. stroh's is still light and refreshing, but has a nice hop character compared to most cheap beers. malt liquors are usually heavier and denser, too, even compared with many quality beers (though the flavor is usually lacking) yeungling is pretty cheap, and it also has a really nice taste.
I have never seen strohs in a bottle, but now i am eager to try. Strohs 30 pack for i think 18 or 22 bucks. Thats what i go for.
yeah, i only get it if i'm on vacation out east. its brewed in PA, but they dont distribute west of PA. i live in OH (one state to the west) and go to school in IN, and i don't get it here. i'd love it if they sold it here, its cheap and tasty. but i wouldnt say it's my favorite, there are much better beers. still, when considering the price and the quality, it sure as hell beats bud or miller. i used to get 15 packs of stroh's for under 8-something bucks, and a sixpack of bottle costs me less than 5-something, so i've consumed many, many cans of it. it's not my favorite, but its a definite best buy, and i've probably consumed more servings of stroh's than any other brand of beer. definite stand-by material. i'm pissed i can't find it anywhere here at least i can get my PBR when i'm not feeling the malt liquor though and if i'm feeling rich, there are a plethora of quality beers to be had, from local IPAs and porters to domestic craft beers to wonderful european beers and unibroue from canada (which makes great belgian style beers) wish i could get myself a six of stroh's tonight though, it sounds tasty. but i'll have to settle for a nasty tall boy of hurricane or something, i'm short on funds and won't have any more money till friday. if i got a sixpack of regular beer i'd probably drink it all tonight, or else i'd only have one or two left for tomorrow.
lol the first time i had yeunglings was at moedown in upstate NY and i was trippin sac makin burgers for everyone and i traded a burger for two tall boys and fell in love! NY is the farthest east the sell it and im two states over east from there.
i've only had it in florida on vacation, and its the perfect beer to drink in the heat if you want something that tastes really good, isn't too heavy, and isn't expensive. i used to think it was wierd how some people only drink certain beers in certain seasons, but after a day or two in key west you can't fathom drinking something like a strong dark belgian ale ice cold yeungling and a fine cigar in the middle of a scorching hot afternoon is wonderful
